Inspired by bednob's loo question. Mine is Tony Robinson's Autobiography - "No cunning Plan" some interesting revelations.

Mine is The Dark Stuff by Nick Kent.

Kent was a rock journalist for the NME among others in the 70's.

When I read how he can write, I have to resist the urge to give up writing because I will never, ever be able to write as well as that.

But then, I get similar impulses whenever I read material by Clive James, Stuart Maconine, Mark Radcliffe, Mark Ellen, David Hepworth, Elvis Costello, or Frank Skinner.

This is a man thing, Naomi. What men read on the loo. I’ve never known a woman do that.
Yuk! Who does that? How disgusting!

I only know of one - a guy at work advised me that the daughter of a friend of his read on the loo.

He put it down to her being a Port Vale fan - apparently an explanation for any and all odd behaviour!!

Disgusting? Not if you blow the pages over rather than licking your finger and doing so :-)
the daily telegraph tends to make your arms ache . . .
When I was young, I certainly read in the loo. Probably influenced by my brother as he could do no wrong. There...now you can all think I was a disgusting girl ;)
I will sometimes take the racing pages or the crossword up if i think i'm going to be a tad longer than is usual. Depends on what i've eaten in the few hours beforehand, of course.
My current book, which does not go to the bathroom with me, is Laurence Rees' Hitler and Stalin, The Tyrants of the Second World War.
Done it for years and read in the bath
1.Budget and acconting - boring but necessary
2.Henry VI pt 1 - Shakey's first play - this is the one where the dook of doo dah kills his son on the battlefield
3.Thinking in side the black box - - - or thinking in the black box - or foo da black box - thinking in a way I dont and I should do apparently
// Yuk! Who does that? How disgusting!//
o come on some people dont have fields to go in....
Yuk! Who does that? How disgusting!

oh come on - we arent sayng that once you have read the page, you rip it out and wipe your bottom with it
My aunt and uncle who were fortunate winners of the Littlewoods Pools many moons ago bought their dream home and in the downstairs loo they left a notebook and pen so you could write a poem or just leave a description.

And yet, strangely enough, my aunt could be a right snooty mare when she wanted to be.

A pen and notebook to write poems? What a good idea;

Here i sit in contemplative mood
While getting rid of the waste from my food
The only sounds, the extractor fan
And the gentle 'plop', down in the pan.
^Yep, that sort of thing.
I go to the loo with TV choice to see what is on tonight.

SK, do you ever miss any decent programmes because you haven't needed a poo? :-)
