are you allowed sips of water ? I hope all goes well xx
Could you consume caffeine and cake via Osmosis, like a frog?
I feel for you. I went in for an endoscopy a few weeks back. I think it was the hottest day of the year. I ended up on ward for three hours meaning I hadn't eaten or drank anything for over 10 hours. They gave me ice cold water and sick bowl so I could spit it out. Awful.

The most annoying part...I didn't even get the procedure done. Wheeled into the room and the consultant said 'I haven't got your blood test results'....well that would be because I didn't have any fecking blood tests.
We don't use that kind of slang any more, Snags, even for the French. :-P

It'll have come and gone soon enough Rocky, best wishes.
I feel for you Rocky.
I was taken to hospital with a totally smashed ankle one Friday evening.
Hadn't eaten since breakfast, was told no food you're about to undergo surgery.
Didn't get operated on until the following Tuesday morning.
By then I was seriously considering steak and mushroom suppositories.

Hang in there and enjoy a good feed when it's done and dusted.
Jeez, Ozzy, are you OK?
Happened about ten years ago.
Even though I was at the top of the operating theatre list for 3+ days I waited and waited.

Silly me, should have screamed in agony constantly, cried my eyes out and complained, like the ones that kept getting bumped up the list.
''should have screamed in agony constantly, cried my eyes out and complained''

Are you on the Wallabies coaching staff?

Jeez, Ozzy, that’s dreadful. I’d have been crawling the walls.

I hate having the camera down my throat, but this consultant is generous with the Fentanyl, so it knocks me right out, thank God. I don’t know how anyone stays awake for it, the thought makes me ill.
No, but I once played soccer Snags.
Wont be long until you can enjoy a good feed Rocky.
I had it without sedation. I had the canular (sp) in but they didn't give it to me. I wondered why I was the only one who was alert after coming out.

Horrible experience but the NHS staff were brilliant. I had a doctor rubbing my shoulders and nurse holding my hand. The bloke giving the throat numbing stuff couldn't look me in the eye. Vile stuff.
Question Author
The first one I had, the sedation didn’t work and I gagged so badly, I don’t think they could do the job properly. The second time I wasn’t aware of anything going on, but I was nearly having a heart attack going in the room.
The third time was private, I told the consultant about my concerns and apprehension, and he thought the NHS were stingy with the drugs and said I should be fine. I was, though he gave me the throat spray as well, yes it’s vile.
So, back to private consultant today, hopefully with his more generous dose of Fentanyl to knock me out.
Sweet dreams during the procedure Rocky.
There was nurse ready and waiting for me to puke as soon as they took the camera out. I did. Not real sick though, just froth.

I didn't know how well our nurses can read body language. I think I'm being calm but they can see the nerves.
Question Author
I can’t be sick, it can reverse the op that I had last year.
I’m anything but calm when it comes to anything going down my thoat. I’d take a camera up the bum over the throat, any day of the week.
Off now, to get ready. I’ll let you know how it goes....
Good luck xx
Good Luck, I had one of those without sedation, I found focusing on breathing to be a good tool, it was soon over. throat spray was disgusting x
I suggested a cube of sugar but apparently it'll make you sick.
Question Author
Well, all done and dusted. Nothing whatsoever wrong with my throat and stomach, thankfully. The reassurance is a Godsend.

Just had a bowl of soup, and now I'm looking for some cake!
