It's heartbreaking to see the starving babies and children but I am curious to know why a lot of the mothers look a lot healthier with more flesh on their bones in comparison to the child, who looks very emaciated and close to death.

Do they? Maybe you are looking at the breasts of breastfeeding mums
Adults can afford to lose more of their body mass before it starts to show in the same way that ir does on a child.

Not at all fiction factory, I was curious seeing some relatively healthy looking adults, male and female which were a stark contrast to the children.

Thank you jack, that makes sense, that never occurred to me.
Well I suppose if the mum starved herself and gave all available food to her kids the kids might turn into orphans and may not survive. I'm not sure how the dads look - do they appear in the pictures?

Oh dear - another thread about starving African children
....or maybe it's an anti-immigrant one ?

I don't think 'they' (if you mean the starving babies and children or mums expect it, 10 clarionSt. Most probably know little or nothing about us
ff
no they most probably don't.

And if they ask as they are doing, we each have the choice to respond or not.
I don't think the charities expect us to give. They are just raising awareness of people who are suffering in terrible conditions where governments in Africa are unable or unwilling to help or may even be making things worse. It's up to you and me whether we (a) try to help by perhaps sacrificing a few quid we could easily manage without in order to help someone in real need or (b) look the other way and say 'not my problem'

Fair enough. It's our choice. teh problems are so big though I don't think there is much the African governments could or would do even if we stopped helping and just left them to do it
We have the luxury of that choice.
I just know that I feel better if I have given a few quid. Somehow that helps.
I can't not try.
