The problem being OG is that these planes don't come anywhere near end of life, and once they are taken out of service they will become scrap. When you have someone like Shapps in charge of defence with absolutely no military experience we are in deep trouble. He's not even experienced a weekend away with the boy scouts. Not sure if there's anyone in government...

Haven't seen anything about this but it wouldn't surprise me. Doesn't he want to get rid of the Royal Marines as well? It's ok though because we'll have the Gladiators off the TV to defend our country. That'll show 'em!

These jets will be grounded despite only completing just 40% of their predicted flying hours. Wonder who they are going to sell these to ?

Question Author

These Tranche 1 Typhoons  are being scrapped to save money.Despite this Tory Govt spending millions on immigrants.

Just plane stupid :0)

Nice one... Mr NiceBloke @ 11.46 .

Question Author

Perhaps Britain could fend of the Russians with a Squadron of Michael O'Leary's Ryan air jets 🀣

They wonder why no one wants to join the arm forces, with Shapps in control I don't think I would. The planes are more than likely being taken out of service because theres nothing to land on out at sea, or anything reliable that is. I could understand these new aircraft  carriers having the odd tec problem, but the main shaft of any warship is just plain and simple engineering. If they can't get that right Amen.

Isn't this an Air Force decision not a minister one ?

Meanwhile Grant Shapps is at Catterick Garrison driving an Apc around ...playing at soldiers.

Just seen this on the news. They are doing it to save money??? What a stupid message to send Putin. This country is asking to be attacked

Old jets being retired.

https://ukdefencejournal.org.uk/uk-confirms-plans-to-strip-early-typhoon-jets-for-parts/

\\On current plans, the bulk of the RAF’s 30 Typhoon Tranche 1 aircraft will go out of service on 31 March 2025, whilst four will be retained until 2027. The retirement of the Tranche 1 Typhoons will leave the Royal Air Force with just 107 Typhoon aircraft in total – 67 Tranche 2 jets and 40 Tranche 3 jets.//

Nothing to see here Gully

OG, A minister one. Why would anyone bother training for years to become a fighter pilot to be made redundant by  prat like Shapps who more than likely have problems riding a push bike.

Question Author

OG 12.09 At the end of the day it's all down to Govt after all they hold the keys to the safe and the pesent Govt is very very eperienced at spending tax payers money.

Question Author

Maybe Baroness Mone and her husband could supply a few new jets on the cheap..  she knows where to get them from.🀣

Surprised gulliver hasn't given nicebloke1 a best answer yet.

13. 11 ,13.12 Looks like you've run out of excuses for this governments dumb decisions. The only thing Shapps is looking for is a feather in his cap for saving on defence spending. He's that thick he can't see what a dangerous situation he is putting the country in. What next, start producing steel balls and put HMS VICTORY to sea. That should scare Putin. :0)

Amazing how all these people who have achieved high office are deemed thick by whose who spend their lives doing little more than stirring.
