The RAF Retires 30 'Quick reaction alert ' Typhoon jets .

It's just like scrapping Spitfires before the Battle of Britain These jets are used to protect the skies over Britain from attacks from the likes of Putin .Has that numpty Grant Shapps been meddling.

The problem being OG is that these planes don't come anywhere near end of life, and once they are taken out of service they will become scrap. When you have someone like Shapps in charge of defence with absolutely no military experience we are in deep trouble. He's not even experienced a weekend away with the boy scouts. Not sure if there's anyone in government...

13.23 Any comments on the OP?

Yes, I'll comment on the OP, niceguy.  I'd take an educated guess that the people who deal with that sort of thing know a bit more about it than you and gulliver.  They don't my advice.

Yep, totally agree with post 13.29

Amendment to 13.33.  They don't *need* my advice.

Davebro 13.11 What was it like in class 5c with TTT ?

A pair of dumbo's, I bet     (The blind leading the blind)🤣

nicebloke1 at 13.30, I made the only comment I needed to.

I can't see why gulliver doesn't just look in the mirror when he wants to talk to you as you are probably one and the same person if not he has a sheep following him around.

Naomi 13.45 Don't think anyone needs you advice. Naomi.

Having the keys to the safe merely gives control of funding for replacements, not scrapping near end-of-life equipment.

Not sure if there's anyone in government that can advise him either. Cameron is to busy gobbing off around the world to deaf ears, but refilling his bank account. The latter is his main objective like all the cons.

Mr NiceBloke @ 15.29 ..Another Best answer ,you just can't help it can you.

I just can't :0) when is the rest of the UK going to wake up to these thick heads who couldn't put an Airfix kit together.

<-{--^ Roger over & out.

"wake up to these thick heads"

Do you have the best or better solution Nicebloke?

hm, perhaps they need the money to pay for the wing commander's fraud...

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/02/29/raf-pentagon-officer-convicted-20k-fraud/

Isn't this an Air Force decision not a minister one ?

no -  the airforce will always say  - more bigger pop guns please

Pegasus, one solution might be to keep the jets going. Apparently they've flown only 40% of their predicted flying hours and are being withdrawn five years early, to save money. I'm not sure saving money ought to be the priority right now, but I'll ask Putin what he thinks when I see him.

the wing commanders fraud

he had a housing allowsance to pay rent, but then BOUGHT a house and thought quite reasonably that he was still entitled to the housing allowance, and set up a secret account.....

We had  at Ped.org one punter apply, since he wasnt using a hotel to attend a meeting cd we possibly contribute a little toward his other housing cost - his mortgage....

the concealment is a bit of stretch tho

( you have to read jno's link to understand the above)

Hello Jno, there is obviously lots more to consider here but agree that one option is certainly to upgrade and keep the Trance1 fighter jets going but also is it better to get rid and spend the money saved elsewhere on up to date defence jets.

Naomi 13.45 Don't think anyone needs you advice. Naomi.

You rude thing Gullz !  we all need Naomi's advice and lots of it! She mods her little heart out for our benefit

Aircraft carriers with shafts that won't turn, and now no planes to put on them. :0(
