Not a huge fan of banning stuff.

There is no need to like the song.
This woman is an attention seeker,She is the idiot who said that the over 70's should not be allowed to vote.
I can't get on the news report because the adverts that take up the entire background won't load, so apparently neither will the report.
Gotta love Piers.

dannyk13, that rights i remember someone mentioning that, forgot who said it..maybe she thinks anyone 70 or over, is to patriotic feeble or a simpleton...she's got some brass neck.
YAY it's worked.

The woman in the video is right. Regarding the era the the song came out and what it represents 100%.

"greatest patriotic anthem" - Piers says.

That's subjective.

Piers is a typical white male who can't understand the possible implications such words has on those who aren't white patriots.

Spath...have a day off!!
That answer itself is too ironic to take seriously.
Or is the word hypocritical?

I'm not sure. Either way....
born in the gambia, enough said!
But TTT the Gambia Regiment was part of the British army.... Do they have no say in how they are remembered?
another to add to the list of countries that have vastly improved since they were given independence. Thinking of going there next year on my tour of post Empire Africa. I'm looking forward to how much they have improved.
Fact is the modern form of patriotism doesn't reflect modern patriots, which is what the lady is saying. And how the era of these songs, stems fro ma rather imperial an racist society, which we are no more. Times more on and change, why can't these songs?
they would be hard pressed to ban it at The Last Night of the Proms, there would be a riot.
Spath //Fact is the modern form of patriotism doesn't reflect modern patriots,//
Can you explain exactly what that means?
danny
I'm amazed you bothered to ask. :-(
Retro, just like to know what he was talking about.
If the lady in the video finds the song racist / objectionable or not up to date with modern times, then she's right.
Spath, is that your explanation to my post at 14.44?
