Of course, we won’t be negotiating to rejoin until the nutters in the Tory party come to their senses and admit what a disaster Brexit is for the UK, and decide that they would like to get elected as a government, ditching their anti-EU stance.

 

As my mate Phil explains, 48% would vote to re-join if we had to adopt the Euro – how long before that figure becomes the majority; with 63%  wanting to rejoin (without it being specified whether we adopt the Euro).

Of course, once support to re-join the EU reaches around 75%, no political party with an anti-EU stance will ever be elected (to form a government) – that is why ultimately the Tories will have to perform a reverse-ferret on this issue, if they ever want to see power again.

It's difficult to credit that remoaners are still on about this, even to the extent of believing we'd ever go back in.

 

Not only is that astronomically unlikely, the state the EU is in at present it's not clear how much longer it'll remsin in existence.

 

They can attract potentially net finance taker nations to apply, but have few net finance supplier nations paying gor it all, and those already there are getting fed up of the existing burden. Add in a blanket veto removal so that member nations have no say in what is imposed on them and watch it all crumble.

//From workplace harassment to fraud, nepotism and corruption – 163 of the 704 current Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) have been implicated in various scandals.

There have been 253 cases in recent years, according to a study carried out by Follow the Money, L'Echo, De Tijd and media outlets from 22 EU Member States. Among the identified issues are: 45 cases of corruption; 29 instances of nepotism (where an MEP uses their influence to benefit a relative); and 16 cases of outright bribery.

According to the study, out of 253 cases highlighted in the report, only 23 have resulted in convictions.//

The only people I have heard talking about re-joining were the ones who didn't want to leave in the first place. There is not a single 'leaver' of my acquaintance who has changed their mind.

I believe (rightly or wrongly) that a majority of voters in the UK now think that we should have remained in the EU.

What is not so clear is how many of them would opt to rejoin once the terms of rejoining had been negotiated with the EU and given the soured relations with the EU since Brexit.
