Ok the shooting of the teen started this but it's now turned into general anarchy. Cleatly criminals are using it as an excuse to go looting etc but is there an underlying cause? Discontent seems to have been bubbling under the surface. So what is the problem? Why are people so unhappy? Anyone have more insight?

what appears to have happened is that a police officer killed someone in cold blood and lied about it to cover his tracks. let's hope they think very carefully about doing it again.

riots are not pleasant things and i would not like to be in france right now but i think they are understandable. it should be the police that fear the public not the other way around.

It just seems like the shooting was the catalyst that released a deeper anger.
It's been bubbling (discontent) for several months now TTT. Unlike the Brits the French are resentful that Macron has raised the pension age and that lies beneath. I also believe the French do not like authority of any sought and will buck the system if they can do it or not.
I recall a very rich elderly dowager was nicked for fair avoidance on the Metro. She had plenty of Euros in her purse but just wanted to thumb her nose at authority and get away with it.
Any excuse for a bit of looting and rioting eh and that demeans the death of a 17year old teenager for a traffic stop!

this has happened before:

The French police arrest a man by sticking an expandable truncheon up his bum, and do not realise ( after their perjured testimony = 'chinese parliament') there is a ..... video

The French police make a car-stop. The fella drives off before being given the 'go' so they shoot him

They shoot thro a window, so the policeman cannot be in fear of being crushed ( reason to draw a gun en France). There are two graphic videos from bystanders
France is a failed country which never recovered from its murdering of Louis XVI.
Dieu voit toutes

disenfranchised, unemployed North African youngsters doing their stuff "saccages pillages et incendies" - as they want jobs and lu-lu to spend

Macron has scurried back home and set up a temporary COBRA ( whorra load of Cobras TTT would say)
Violences urbaines : Macron va présider une nouvelle cellule de crise après une troisième nuit d'émeutes.

and is appealing for calm

The video is damning enough for the Macron cabinet to apologise to the family, and the shooter ( agent de police) has been leant on to apologise and beg forgiveness.

The shooter has been charged ( inculpe) with homicide volontaire" which we dont have
or deposing Charles le tenth
or not stopping at Napoleon 1 er and going onto Napoleon III

Ironic. A film was made several years ago entitled ‘Is Paris Burning’
The Nazis failed to raise the capital to the ground so the French are finishing the job for them 80 years later.

Old warriors will recollect that that is the question Hitler asks to Choltitz ( I think they gave him a medal post war) - who had mined the bridges and then declined to give the order t blow them ( oo la la, cd be fatal in the final days of the war). One of the first to say o *** it is obvious we have lost the war
Well I suppose France has their fair share of nutters that crawl out from under their stone as well.
The UK is a far more dangerous place to live , than France.
oh god what tommy rot

I believe Albert Speer had a hand in ignoring the ‘Hitler Order’ and defying his scorched earth policy when the game was up for Germany. He was the architect of Hitler’s new Germania. Probably saved him from the rope at Nuremburg!
crime stats

surprisingly we seem to be level pegging
I am not sure ( too idle to read) whether it is normalised per 100 000 head of population,

they give the murder rate for England as 682 - which seems terribly high - ( it is. it should be 1.12) and looks more like the absolute number of murders
( 67m in France compared to 60m in UK)
The French are volatile. Very quick to take to the streets.
Probably saved him from the rope at Nuremburg!
erm
actually what saved Speer from the Rope ! - - - was
ONE letter which said ( er in German)
of the condition of prisoners at Dora Mittelburg I think

for chrissakes they are far too thin and malnourished and we cant get any work out of them before they die!

and the judges agreed showed this meant no intention to commit genocide....
The French are volatile. Very quick to take to the streets.
The French are revolting !
