..............."I Don't Meet With Unions" says Grant Shapps" ..........
Well you had better start meeting with them,
Mr-Holier- than Thou Shapps. Because its your job and that of your fellow cons that is on the line with these Strikes, which are designed to bring about the fall of Boris and his merry men.

Perhaps if you did speak to them mr Shapps you might even get somewhere nearer solving the problem.
'these Strikes, which are designed to bring about the fall of Boris and his merry men.'

Well, as has been said on the other thread (quite why you've chosen to start one yourself, I have no idea) it could end up doing exactly the opposite.
why would he meet with them? This is an Employer/Union issue.
Yes ZM we are loving this in the party, I reckon this will turn round Boris' popularity, when, after a week of misery, the public realise what a disaster labour would be.
//these Strikes, which are designed to bring about the fall of Boris and his merry men. //

No accounting for stupidity.
When you've spent the last 2 years defending Boris for his blunders there's every chance Shapps forgot what his job is.

He new full well of P&Os plan to get rid of thousands of workers, and did nothing. Now he's doing nothing yet again.
Knew^^
Mrs T killed off the previous tripartite relationship between unions, employers and government. Why would Shapps want to make them (the Unions) think it was back?

I can see a summer of discontent approaching on Boris's watch.
And what do you think that will do to Labour's chances?
13.09 We've already had 2 :) this will be the last!!
Gulliver just wants to cut off his head to spite his face.

13.11 The public will blame the Con's Because they are in power at the moment, But I will forgive you if you have failed to notice.

13.13 , Boris will blame the heatwave, if he can't put the blame onto Labour.
'The public will blame the Con's Because they are in power at the moment'

Only those with the same ability to reason things out as you, Gulli. And they tend to vote Labour.
gulliver: "13.11 The public will blame the Con's Because they are in power at the moment, But I will forgive you if you have failed to notice. " - one of the many reasons that Labour have been in power less than 24% of the time they have been in existence is because the public know the association between Labour and the unions. This is doing us Tories the power of good, keep on striking suckers!
The Government are not going to sit down with the Unions.
But it is the Treasury who are demanding the industry restructures, and that there must be job losses.
Network rail are negotiating the Unions but the Government holding the purse strings.
So there is built-in paralysis and a very long strike looks inevitable.
Other professions are also considering strike action, so if the Government isn’t careful, we could have widespread industrial unrest. Just what we need after the pandemic, economic malaise, and sleazy Government.

Very true. Also, is the same Grant Shapps who slated P&O for getting rid of staff who then hired a load of unskilled and unqualified agency staff, only to recommend the same for the railways only a few months later?
Clown.
