With the rail strike disrupting life for millions and more strikes in other areas threatened, are the unions shooting Labour in the foot?

depends if KS can stop his lefty MPs getting too visibly involved
Dave //depends if KS can stop his lefty MPs getting too visibly involved/
He has already said that he supports this strike.
I don't think Labour have any hopes for government, so the unions cannot destroy something which does not in fact exist in the first place.

Oh, I think they have 'hopes'. Chances are a different thing altogether. ;o)

A fair point.

i have 'hopes' of dinner with Liz Hurley, and given the current situation, I'd bet on my hopes being realised before Labour's any day!!
No surprise that KS sits on his fence , he hasn’t the wherewithal to lead a party ,like Tony Blair before him, he’s Labour in name only

Sir Keir is between the proverbial rock and a hard place.

On the one hand, he needs to keep his dyed-in-the-wool traditional supporters happy by backing the unions, who fund a large part of his party.

On the other hand, he has to be mindful of the aspirational majority of potential Labour voters who have less than no interest in returning to the 1970's union power times, so he can't be seen to be too keen on strikes which are adversely affecting those voters' daily lives.

He can't win, so he does what he does best - nothing.

Aye, Looks like he’s quite a bit in the lead the now.
If there was a ge tomorrow labour would most likely win
Can all the Boris fan boys and girls put their fingers in their ears NOW......
Labour are well ahead in todays polls having their greatest lead over the Cons since 2013.
gulliver: "Labour are well ahead in todays polls having their greatest lead over the Cons since 2013" - so you'll take the bet that The Tories will be the government after the 2024 election then? Or am I herding paper tigers again?
The strikes are doing the Tories a huge favour. It reminds people of the 5th column we have in our midst and that they fund a potential party of government. So the millions disrupted today may well be considering where they put their X on polling day.

I haven't checked that, Gulliver, but if it's true, do you want to have a go at answering the question?

And if there was an invasion by Martians, the human race may be obliterated.

You can 'If ...' until the cows come home, it's meaningless.
Gullivers spitting feathers about it and he doesn’t live here ( allegedly )
TTT reminds of that character from Family Guy (don't know his name cos I rarely watched it) who went round everywhere thinking that everyone was a communist subversive. If it was on Family Guy it must be true! Fifth columnist commies!!! How dare they want a decent job and living standards!! How very dare they!

I don't agree with the strike action though. I've never thought it acheived anything.
10cs, there were strikes during WWI........who but 5C would do that? Unions have always been the enemy of the people, especially the working man, they destroy jobs, to feather their own power base. If the PM has an ounce of TGL in him, he'll create new legislation to crush them to within an inch of their pointless lives.
10cs: "How dare they want a decent job and living standards!! How very dare they! " - they are on a lot more than the average wage already. Drivers are on 60k+ you can exist on that.
bobbi: "Gullivers spitting feathers about it and he doesn’t live here ( allegedly ) " - yes for someone not living here he does seem to take more than a passing interest......unless.....
It's nearly two years until the next election. By then the strikes, like the No 10 parties, will be no more than a faint memory.
