I fear ethnic cleansing as the way Russia will deal with its “Ukrainian” problem. They did it in Crimea.
The Soviet Union did it Konigsberg when they replaced the Germans after the war with Russians and renamed it Kaliningrad.
Interestingly Kaliningrad (named after the Bolshevik Kalinin) was never desovietised, like so many cities such Leningrad, Gorky, Kuybishev etc

Hitler dealt with the Jews as a rule.

Stalin with everyone else.

Take Lviv, for example: this was actually a Polish city before the war. Hitler exterminated its Jews and after the war Stalin insisted it be transferred to the Soviet Union whereupon the Polish population was replaced by citizens of the Ukrainian SSR. So ironically Ukraine’s borders in that past of W Ukraine were drawn by Stalin.

Konigsberg - xc for the bridge problem and klops ( konigsberger klops silly!) was where the mayor was shot for cowardice in 00 early 1945 ( not Goerdeler).
The shooters were shot later
He had I think given up the city without defending it - end of Mayor and city
