I am right behind AH, nothing really one can add to his excellent posts.

I too have signed the petition, just had another look and its over 361K and still climbing
its a travesty that he has received a knighthood.
I will sign this petition willingly, and to think I helped vote this man into power ...
I've signed.
The whole honours system is a farce anyway.
Morally right or wrong, petitions won't influence the decision. Tony Blair won three General Elections and, as a diplomat and statesman, has not left public life since. It surprises me that it's taken so long to award him the honour. Could be that's a reflection on the more unsavoury aspects of his career.
Signed, the man is despicable and should of been tried for war crimes, I don’t know how he sleeps at night knowing he was instrumental in taking us into a phoney war and robbing parents of sons and daughters , he’s a disgrace !!
One thing is for certain public opinion won't persuade him to refuse it.
Does'nt actually bother me. These days knighthoods , MBE's and the like are given away like toffees.
No it won’t Rowan, his ego far outweighs any petition
Sparkly it opens doors etc, should be done away with !
Does it really matter? He might choose to use the title but you don't have to. In the unlikely event that you speak to him you can call him what you like; if he corrects you you can just ignore him. If you refer to him in writing just omit "Sir".
just call me "Sir Dave" ?
// There are no or illegal wars, just wars. //
erm - yes and no - even St Thomas Aquinas had something to say about that....and now international law
Wasnt Japan found to have waged illegal war against china 1933-1945?

and the big doo-doo about Lord Goldsmiths opinions on the war
( draft 1 - deffo illegal)
Bliar - lying like a flat fish of course - are you sure muh-ludd
( draft 2 - second opinion: OK it is legal! )
were about the legality of war

currently we are sweating about that in Ukraine
Putin has stopped saying that he will liberate Ukraine again
( ukrainians: we dont want to be liberated thanks)
Putin - "OK I have a right to intervene to 'save' the Russian minority in the eastern Ukraine"

[ a 1000 ABers whine who Putin den, where Ukraine den - it is a far away country of which we know nothing]
// These days knighthoods , MBE's and the like are given away like toffees.//

These days knighthoods , MBE's and the like are given away to dinner ladies - thx to Michael WInner

slowness to honour Bliar
Queen opposed it - a/c to the reputable papers
and did NOT like the help Bliar gave over Diana's death

(well done in that film "The Queen" - loo-loo over the Royal Standard at half mast and how it only flew over live people)

35 y before THAT, LBJ insisted that he flew from Dallas in Air Force One to show the American People 'had a President' whilst Kennedy's body was in Air Force 2. It earned Jackies undying enmity
it's pointless signing a petition.
IIRC C1m people demonstrated in London for the "stop the war" rally but it went ahead anyway
I think there is no doubt whatsoever that the knighthood will be debated, and the n rubber stamped.

The protocol of having an unbroken tradition of former PM's being gonged will trump any national outrage, which is why the Queen has agreed it.

And Blair is more than cold-hearted, egotistical, and brass-necked enough to shrug off the moral bankruptcy of accepting this award, he will see it entirely as his due.
ask Bercow about tradition, they end somewhere.
Taking us to war is what politicians do. Thatcher did it, Blair did it, and so on. The ones who don't take us to war are often accused of being a friend of terrorists (apart from darlings like Desmond, of course.)
the honour given to Tony Blair, Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, is bestowed in the Queen’s gift and made without prime ministerial advice.

would parliament have the ability to overrule the sovereign and rescind the honour?
^^^
So all the objectors ought to write to the queen to question her 'judgement ' , surely Unless they don't want to end up in the tower
