jno: "Care to explain what you think will happen if they're untied again - as they were in 1938?" I don't buy that narrative jno. i.e. War again IF untied. The rogue raider era completely ended -vikings, goths, huns etc - , then the ~200 years of 'christian' religious wars in Europe completely ended, the major powers in Europe warsWW 1 and WW11 -completely...

yep bang on sevenOP, BA.
I've yet to see any tangible benefits of the UK leaving, all the things I like to do like do business, shopping and go on holiday have got harder and more expensive.
We are an Independent nation now,.... the door is open lets walk through it said Boris , and then the door slammed behind him. ....Oh dear
13.50 Archibaldy, may I ask you which way you voted in the Referendum.
gulliver1 ,
may I ask you which way you voted in the Referendum, if you had a vote, and irrespective of franchised or not, why would you vote Yes or No ?
complete garbage as BA
oh well it is TTT as judge...
sevenOP, nuclear states have so far held back on using them since 1945 but still have lethal encounters that range between skirmishes and invasions: India-Pakistan, Russia-Ukraine, Israel-anybody. I don't think we should count on a European exceptionalism that suggests we and our neighbours would never do a thing like that.

France has nukes, Germany doesn't. The EU binds them together. I say let's keep it that way.
PP: "complete garbage as BA "

How so Peter?
Please give us the benefit of your massive, omniscient brain.

jno,
only India and Pakistan are relevant in this case and they are screwed up by the 'religion' poison, which might actually exacerbated ( to skirmish, brief exchange) yet moderate i.e. no massive full-kill - as in alleged "Khameni has issued a fatwa against us getting nuclear weapons" . I doubt the India Pakistan even if it went full nuke, would involve/engage others to partake of the violence.

I say it doesn't need the EU to bind them, like the Viking and Goths that lesson has been learned and others would not tolerate it if tried, and in it present form the EU is as big a con as the UK, USA, right down thru most of the UN members.

life is full of unlearnt lessons, most recently Afghanistan. I don't share your optimism that anybody learns anything.
TTT,
I enjoy a good debate as I might learn from it. (I know I may be wrong and like to know if I am - even if it smarts some)
Were the removed answers PP's... I only ask as I have several times asked PP to justify a remark he made in various threads and he has NEVER, never responded... which makes me very suspicious... shame, as it could be interesting to debate with him....

sevenop 16:59 no they were from me supporting you.
jno: "life is full of unlearnt lessons, most recently Afghanistan. I don't share your optimism that anybody learns anything."

I have no idea EXACTLY what you mean by your first sentence jno,, but I know we all, as INDIVIDUALS, have "unlearnt lessons", but wars etc have NOTHING, zero, to do with our doings as individuals, nor largely, as even large civilian groups. These things like wars are decided by very small groups of individuals with the POWER, in relation to the massive numbers of 'the People'.
That is the deliberate illusion/ Jedi mind trick this tiny number who bring about the actual war, want 'their people' to believe the fantasy "We, as a nation, decided we must go to war". ( just like the Royalty adoration inculcated garbage)

If you think that I am optimistic about humanity,I am sorry to say you are extremely mistaken!!... but I recognise that it is near impossible that NOBODY does not ever learn a single lesson.
Yeah, we're all as fick as *** innit.
^ Did I hit that cryptic nerve, duggie?
