Yes, I'm having the full, cooked breakfast.
just Biden my time......
That’s what happens when you try to inherit a populist policy from a previous incumbent.

The US is backing away from its international responsibilities. It’s a spectacular ****_up and not a good look from the president who like his British counterpart has appeared to be whitewashing the affair and avoiding questions.
Unfortunately the sane scenario would have under the other option and quiches
Quiches maybe too but I meant “quicker” :-)
You can't know that, ichi.
No. But I always knew what he was.
Trump’s deadline was May 1st.

Make no mistake I’m seriously disappointed in Biden. He should have torn up the Trump deal and he did appear to be avoiding fronting up to the media about it.
That’ll have to change. In fact seems it already is
Everyone knew that Trump was bonkers, so it was a big mistake for Biden to follow Trump’s Peace deal with the Taliban. Trump set his withdrawal date as May 1st, so we would have had the same problems just months ago.

We could not have stayed in Afghanistan for ever, so coming out was the correct decision. Trump promised all US troops back home in 2016, but when he was elected, he failed to deliver on his pledge.

Gromit, once again, I will ask you 'Who is the Commander-in-chief?

Biden is in charge of this fiasco.

Of course Biden made a big error in following the agreement. But it is a bit disingenuous for you to put ALL the blame on Biden, when he was just carrying on the work started by Trump in February 2020.

Trumped signed the agreement and withdrew tens of thousands of troops before the lost the election. If he had done it in 2016 when he promised to, he might have won. But it was another of his elected pledges that he broke, and why the American people failed to give him a second term.
I actually don’t agree that we had to leave.
On reflection it was not necessary.
Certainly not in the time it took in the end. The operation was much lower maintenance than ever. The cost of leaving like this may be much greater in the long run. Maybe even in the short run. How is the US going to get its 15,000 stranded citizens out?
The cost to the reputation of the west is also severe.
"Have you changed your mind yet?" - Yes, Biden has impressed me over the last few days.
Nope, never liked the man and still dont.

I do however agree with pulling out of Afghanistan, just not the way he has done it.
//That’s what happens when you try to inherit a populist policy from a previous incumbent.//
What a load of bull.
a) he could have dumped it -h did exec orders to change most other things,
b) He didnt follow Trumps plan
c) Biden is on record of wanting to pull out many years ago.
“ a) he could have dumped it -h did exec orders to change most other things, ”

And he didn’t
That’s my point
I’m a Biden fan but he has been most unimpressive the last few days.
Admittedly he’s trying to defend the indefensible which is not an easy task

It seems typical of both you & Biden (what a duo!) to try to blame Donald Trump for the biggest & unnecessary disaster by the US, probably of all time & causing untold damage to innocent people & certainly the US itself. Yes he wanted to be out in May, but that was after he had had talks with Mullah Baradar, a senior Taliban figure, outlining an orderly withdrawal, he told Baradar that he would “blow up your village” if the Taliban tried to seize land or equipment ahead of the US withdrawal he negotiated.

Under Tump's proposal civilians & equipment would have been withdrawn FIRST & the troops would be the last to leave. Biden has brought out the troops first, leaving thousands of US citizens (11,000 is the White House figure, Trump says this is an underestimate) & the Taliban now have billions of US arms & equipment - even Black Hawk helicopters.
a lot of the equipment can be completely neutralised by destroying the software from a distance....however, what a waste of millions if not billions of dollars.
I've never been impressed by him and I'm even less impressed with him now.
Personally, I think he is not a well man and his age is clearly showing.
Don't think he will last for his full term of office.
Much had been made of leaving behind 2 Blackhawk helicopters.
Apparently they haven’t moved for a year because they were awaiting parts. They were inoperable and are no use to the Taliban.
