it's sheer hatred of England bobbi, you get that from your parents and peers.
I know that first hand, my friends mother was the worst bigot ever, refusing to let a window cleaner in a ‘combat jacket’ to do their Windows , said he was representative of the British Army ( no kidding)

@22.07.Was your mam some sort of a hitlerite, bobbi?

Why?
ynnafymmi - a bit strong - wot. Are you thinking of signing up - a free combat jacket with every subscription?
What do you mean ynnafymmi?
It wasn’t my Mam I was talking about !!
he's getting things confused eh Bobbi....
Just a bit haha, my mam was the kindest and most gentle person in the world and wouldn’t be seen dead in a combat jacket ,haha
It is a Catch 22 situation, and a legal challenge is needed to let the Courts decide. Both sides are claiming they can do it, the UK Government are claiming they can block it, so there is a conflict of interpretation that needs to be sorted out by the constitutional lawyers.
So The First Minister must go ahead and proceed with plans for a referendum, and Bozo the Clown must take her to Court to get the impasse sorted.

Simples.
Look at what happened to the secessionists in Barcelona. Would love to see Nicola and her cronies banged up for a 10 stretch!

Tora,
It appears that the law is undefined, unless less you can post some legalese that says it definitely would be illegal?

IndyRef1 was legal, so I don’t see how IndyRef2 could be illegal. Sturgeon said the first Ref was a ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunity, but that has no relevance in law. It would be another example of a politician changing their mind rather than breaking any statutes.
dbro Oh joy of joys

Sunk 08:14, err no, this is a matter of fact, written in law, not opinion, Scotland need the permission of the UK government to hold a referendum. They could hold an "advisory" referendum but a binding referendum would need an order under section 30 or an amendment to the 1998 Scotland act. End Of.

sunk: "IndyRef1 was legal, so I don’t see how IndyRef2 could be illegal." - indyref1 was correctly approved under statute and was meant to resolve the issue for a generation. Indyref2 probably won't be.
Just a tad all over the place this morning, Tora.

A step up from the usual drivel though.
