yikes the 'Law' in this column is all over the place
is there a section called 'crap' ? - I wd be at home there
It gets better ... The fat fish insists that they would not need to pay back their share of the National debt and would default, and it transpires that the Iranian "funnies" are all in favour of independence and have been steering opinion on social media sites. Wonder who the Iranians are that use this site pretending to be from oop North.
Nicola Sturgeon’s parents brought her up to be a nation isn’t like themselves! Since a small girl she has been brainwashed to focus on one thing - Scottish Independence. She conveniently forgets that it is The Barnett Formula that keeps Scotland afloat. She appears to believe that the EU are desperate for Scotland to join them. They told her before the first referendum that Scotland would have to wait (10 years I believe). She was also told Scotland would not be able to keep the £. What will Scotland live on? She is blinkered.
// @22.07.Was your mam some sort of a hitlerite,bobbi?//

oh dear - let me proof correct that to

"did your mutter get the Motherhood Medal in the thirties, bobbi?"

more subtle
explicatory notes: during the thirties in Nazi germany, if a leddy bore the state 12 yes twelve that is, children, they were awarded the Motherhood Medal. Obviously only Nazis need apply

oh and if any wonders
there is no iranian entryism on this thread - Togo _ hi Toag, bless! was referring to ancient debts being demanded a la Iran !
wow - proud of that one
but she has a lot of following, even if she is blinkered.
Carole bigotry has a habit of being passed down from generation to generation
just look at Ireland for that Bobbi....
Re my first post Emmie the lady that wouldn’t allow the window cleaner was from N Ireland , my friends living in Wishaw now, supported the IRA , well he did openly , she never voiced her opinion
i couldn't support the IRA in anything, they tried to kill so many, and succeeded with wanton violence, i was working in various places in London when bombs were set off nearby. I can't understand Irish politics i confess, i know some of the history, but isn't it time they all got on with their lives. Bigotry is a nasty trait.
It appears to be rearing its ugly head again over there Emmie
it does Bobbi, youngsters pitted against one another, or at the police.
Once again , hatred passed down Emmie
// my friends living in Wishaw now, supported the IRA , well he did openly , she never voiced her opinion//

yeah cd never get that bit - we support the IRA, well go and work in republic - oh no thanks, England is OK for that

(60% 15-44 Oirish crossed the border and worked in UK 1965-1990. no one er noticed as there was freedom of travel)
Thanks Tora.

So Scotland can legally hold an Advisory Referendum like the EU Referendum.

Sorted.
Here's a suggestion. The SNP get their referendum; if they lose they lose the Barnet formula contributions to their economy.

Sunk: Yes Scotland can have an advisory referendum like the UK one. The problem with that comparison is that, yes the UK referendum was advisory but the government pledged to implement the results and a legal path existed to do that. The government could of course have said thanks very much your opinion is noted and carried on. However that would have been politically impossible and political suicide, therefore the result was eventually implemented. The difference with the Scotland "advisory" referendum is that there is no legal path to implement the result and they would have to make that clear so it would be a waste of time and a legal turkey shoot would later ensue if any attempt at extrication was attempted. Better all round to seek validity in the first place.
//So Scotland can legally hold an Advisory Referendum like the EU Referendum.//

Yes they can. The difference is that the advisory referendum held on EU membership was held by the UK government. That government pledged to fulfil the result and had the power to do so. Although the government which allowed the referendum departed before we left the EU, their successors (after a struggle) kept to the pledge.

The Scottish government has no such power. It knows it hasn't and is threatening to hold its advisory referendum so that (if the result goes its way) it can use that as leverage for an officially sanctioned vote. There is no question that constitutionally the Scottish government does not have the power to hold a binding referendum and the power to allow Scottish independence rests with Westminster. Declaring independence without the agreement of the Westminster Parliament would be seen as the sequel to "Passport to Pimlico":

In any case an advisory vote would be widely boycotted by the no side thus making the result worthless and chopping out the legs of the yes side.
@10.20.The IRA were allied with the Nazis,so they were Hitlerite as was your mams friend,Bobbi.At the end of the war the Irish government even sent condolences to Germany after Hitlers suicide.
@12.59.Too true,Tora.Gromit and his advisory referendums,...ho-hum...
