Hmmm.... is any crime not a hate crime? However, this is one of the big problems we have, so if it means tougher sentences, then I suppose it may work.
In no, the poor respondents in ab are about to get a knock on the door ...
It does depend where the lines are drawn. I saw that about "online abuse". But that is so subjective.
No objections as long as misandry is too.
^ typical man :-)
No crime should be specifically labelled, "hate". If one is "attacked" why should the cause make any difference ? It shouldn't.
so you want it one way and not the other pixie? do expand on why that would be.

cor, had a soh bypass TTT? Even I could see pixie is joking
I didn't say that at all, ttt!
For violent crimes, to either sex, I would be happy to see harsher sentences, and if this is the excuse they need, fine.
But it does depend how far it goes.... a male poster, disagreeing, being rude to, or even abusive to a female poster online... is not necessarily misogyny or hate.
My response (and it does say in the link, it may apply to men too) was a bit tic.
Thank you, bednobs!
I think TTT is feeling a bit touchy this morning following the responses to his question on patio heaters.
I would say yes. The more categories that are added, the nearer the law will get to a situation where everybody has equal protection from hate crime.
"There is a very interesting debate raging at the moment about the nature of sin, for example.’ ‘And what do they think? Against it, are they?’ ‘It’s not as simple as that. It’s not a black and white issue. There are so many shades of grey.’ ‘Nope.’ ‘Pardon?’ ‘There’s no greys, only white that’s got grubby. I’m surprised you don’t know that. And sin, young man, is when you treat people as things. Including yourself. That’s what sin is."‘It’s a lot more complicated than that—’ ‘No. It ain’t. When people say things are a lot more complicated than that, they means they’re getting worried that they won’t like the truth. People as things, that’s where it starts.’ ‘Oh, I’m sure there are worse crimes—’ ‘But they starts with thinking about people as things . . .’

and its where crime starts too

Not every crime is a hate crime. Theft, burglary, shoplifting can all be motivated by greed or need. Murder, criminal damage and acid attacks can be motivated by jealousy.

It is only a hate crime if the offence was motivated by a hatred for the person or object purely because of the colour of their skin, their race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or disability. I see no reason why misogyny or misandry should not be included in the list of hate crimes.
All violent crime?
Should Bigamy Be Classed As A Hate Crime?
If you had acid thrown in your face, barry, would you feel any differently if the motivation was jealously rather than race?
barry, is jealousy not a form of hate?
"Carpe Jugulum" = "Seize the throat"
