It's a well known fact that watching far too many tv adverts for junk food makes you morbidly obese. The 'bad stuff' from the burgers, crisps, chocolate, puddings, etc, seeps out of your tv, surfing on the sound waves, before entering your body through your ears. Once there, it fights it's way past your anvil and whatnot, before reaching your vital organs, which it smothers in layers of lard and really, really bad stuff, making you blow up like a barrage balloon. Then you get poorly, poorly sick and it takes a crane to lift you from your house - after the builders have demolished the front half for access - and transfer you to hospital. And because you are so huge, you take up an entire ward resulting in shortages of beds and cancellation of life-saving operations. Then, when you die, you are so massively fat that you have to be buried somewhere like the Grand Canyon. So don't watch junk food ads on your tv.
Ken, I feel that there is a flaw in your logic. I am female and I weigh almost twice the weight that I should. Yet I don't have a TV. :-)
But your lovely wolfie.
Have you been looking in Electrical retailers windows Wolf?
No flaw in my logic, Woolfie. I never said watching junk food ads on tv was the ONLY thing that adds inches and pounds and ounces to one's skeletal frame. For instance, it's a well known fact that Eamonn Holmes' penchant for eating furniture has caused his flatulence ;-) Gallons and gallons (and even more gallons and gallons) of John Smiths Smooth caused mine before the old heart gave it's warning shot.
Oh, dear! I've just scoffed half a packet of Tesco Onion Rings! Am I doomed to a slow and agonising death?
I think my auto correct actually auto-corrected the word flatulence as I had left the 'l' out purposely :-(

so why not bring back P.E. in schools ?
cross country running and the like ?
It isn't the adverts, it's the ease which they can order takeaways and the fact they don't think twice about doing so.
They tried to ban sex scenes, swearing and other 'adult' ideas before 9.00pm, but you only have to watch any soap to see them. We'll see how long it lasts.
Ban whatever he likes, as long as he doesn't ban junk food itself ! I'll sill eat it whenever the fancy takes me and I am not obese!

surely this should be: Le petomane - - ducks will fart in the long grass
Not allowing pushing at kids ain't such a bad idea. Adults can and should take responsibility for their own advert watching.
It's a knee jerk reation that will not work, they never do.

On the other hand I do recognise something needs to be done as obesity has the potential to crash the NHS.

But it needs sensible thought.
I don't suppose the Nightingale Hospitals could be readily converted to liposuction centres?

Get some use for all the wedge at least.
Now there is a though Douglas :-)
The PM: Don't eat rubbishy fast food.

The Chancellor: Here's a tenner which you can spend on a half price meal in McDonalds.
But only if you have a mask it seems NJ.
The obvious thing would be to tax unhealthy foods in the same way they tax tobacco and alcohol.
Education not tax is the way to go, and remove the sweets from the counters and checkouts.
In my experience, a fat kid is a miserable kid.
Its child cruelty.
I think the hypocrisy of the Boris Johnson knows no bounds and continues with each day. Who does he think he is, lecturing people on their weight? He looks a picture of health doesn't he, with his fancy hairstyle and lithesome agile-looking figure? Get lost Johnson. Power has definitely gone to his head and he is determined to ruin this country.
