I defend him only when I think he’s getting a raw deal - and that I would do for anyone - even you, mozz.
Nick, //For Trump haters I would just say that if you can ignore what he actually says and take it as what he should have said//

Not at all. You should listen to what he actually says … rather than make it up as you go along because it suits your purpose.
Your interpretation of the conversation on OP, Naomi!

//Question: Why does it matter to you that the US is doing better?

Answer: Because I’m proud of my country and I think we are.//
Nick, That's not my interpretation of what he said. It's what I think he should have said. I made that clear in a subsequent post. In other words he suspected he was being set up - which I think he was - and he handled the situation badly. There you go - a criticism.
I can't buy that I'm afraid.
Do you never tell lies Mozz??
//Do you never tell lies Mozz??//

Yep, sometimes. Of course, I'm not leader of the free world, addressing my nation's press.

//I defend him only when I think he’s getting a raw deal - and that I would do for anyone - even you, mozz//

But I only ever get a raw deal from you! ;o)

Seriously though, I do the same. Although I tend to regret it when that person acts like a pillock afterwards. *cough*Diddly*cough*
No Mozz, you are not the leader of the free world (although you really didn't need to tell me that), but your lies (and we ALL tell lies) may hurt people you care about - who knows? Isn't that important?

Oh, and I like Trump despite the fact he does make mistakes, but he loves his country and his fellow Americans and wants the best for them, and I cannot fault him for that.
//Tomus, I think you're mistaken. Whether those who object to injustice - you know, when situations, actions and words are continually deliberately misreported and misconstrued - are in fact Trump lovers per se is highly debatable - but the mentality of the Trump haters is far from superior. Anyone who depends upon other people to endorse their opinions - and Trump haters need that - is weak. They are in possession of a bullying, herd mentality driven by spitefulness - and that is nothing whatsoever to be proud of. In refusing to pay lip service the sheep, yes, I am in the minority - but that's fine. I’d much rather be me. //

I think you're mistaken too Naomi. I don't think there are many people that hate Trump. Not in this country anyhow, perhaps over there. Personally I just see nothing remotely likeable or admirable about the man. Literally nothing, and he is a bit of a buffoon, but that doesn't make him a bad president - so I'm not even saying that.
I'll accept the label Trump hater though if you're ok with being called a Trump lover.
Nick, //I can't buy that I'm afraid. //

At 11.04 I said // I just think that's how Trump should have dealt with it.//

I don’t tell lies.
tomus, I haven't labelled you - and I'd be obliged if you would afford me similar courtesy.
That was after you had been called out, Naomi.

//You need to have your ears tested, Naomi, if that's how you heard the question and answer.//

You were clearly trying to spin it.
// tomus, I haven't labelled you - and I'd be obliged if you would afford me similar courtesy. //

I didn't, I said I'd accept being called a Trump hater (your phrase not mine) if you'd accept being called a Trump lover, and as you clearly wouldn't, then we're both in agreement.
//and I like Trump despite the fact he does make mistakes, but he loves his country and his fellow Americans and wants the best for them, and I cannot fault him for that.//

I'm really not convinced he does. Trump has always been about power, so naturally, he coveted the most powerful job on the planet. Is he for doing what's best for his fellow Americans? Only the ones who vote for him. The others? Not so much I'd wager.
//I'm really not convinced he does.//

Me neither. He knows what to say to win supporters and votes but I doubt he cares at all about the people behind the votes. Right now he's posting loads of religious themed nonsense on his twitter feed to appeal to a certain type of American voter, but he's not religious and has never shown any sign of being remotely interested in it.
Nick, how you equate my words with what Trump said only you can know but I don’t appreciate being called a liar. You need to learn that others don't necessarily share your failings. To some of us integrity matters.
That's you told, Wan.
I love it when Naomi is firm tho. Shudder. Cold shower time.
Oh yes, tell me more about how I'm so bad mistress!
What I am told when someone tells me they don’t tell lies, Jim, is that the person is lying; all human beings tell lies, it is part of being human.
