What cloud is he on? Surely if he took any advice from the medical professionals/advisers before speaking he would not be saying inane things like this.

"Irony"? Stupidity more like.
So where's my antivirotic bar of soap I can use for a couple of happy birthdays ?
// Irony"? Stupidity more like//

i LIke irony - stupidity isnt a word / concept that has meaning on AB
I don't get it. I have AVG antivirus and it works perfecly well. Why isn't it being used by the NHS?
jno - AVG only works on man-made viruses, not bat-made.
how about if they've been made by lizard people?
Might do. I've heard they're looking at the witches' potion in Macbeth as a possible antidote.
Donald Trump is embarrassing. He can just about bluff his way through a press conference about the economy or terrorism or something, but when it comes down to science and matters of fact he is exposed as a complete fool.
'Virus Too Brilliant For Antibiotics'

Really stupid thing to say.
Makes me wonder why you said it, Tigger?
In 2016, I was so wary of Hilary Clinton becoming President I was pleased that Trump won.
He appears to have kept his promises, bluffing and bludgeoning his way through his manifesto in the face of unfounded accusations, regards Russiagate and Ukraine, and pursued by the Democrats for no discernible reason.
What a lousy choice the Americans had, and same again this time around with Biden.
Maybe, just maybe, Trump will unintentionally come up trumps.
You are being very unfair. Trump gets it...

Unfourtantly he will not accept any advice from his advisors.
Fourtantly I'm sure he does, tony. Where do you get your ideas from?
Ha, all the trump haters out in force.

still I'm sure they could all do much better from the comfort of their armchair.
Well I reckon I'd be at least slightly better at explaining scientific stuff than Trump even with one hand tied behind my back.

He said something objectively stupid. It isn't a "Trump hater" thing to point this out. It's more of a "Trump fanboy" thing to ignore it. Whatever his strengths and appeal, this crisis has clearly exposed some of his weaknesses. His premature boasting about how successful the US was in dealing with this when, in reality, his early actions only postponed the crisis and maybe even made it worse by creating a false sense of security, eg his tweet on Feb 24th "The CoronaVirus is very much under control!", or in early March his focus on the small case numbers and apparent refusal or inability to appreciate that they were on an exponential curve. Or, the final piece of irony:

It's the way he is. None of you get it. Yes he spouts lots of nonsense but that is the way he is, he doesnt dress his words like others do and none of you like it.

So you reckon you could run the USA then jim? Shall I gt the builders in to widen your door frame so you can get your head out?
It's quite a leap from "I'm a better scientist than Trump" to "I can run the US". One I certainly never made.
I’ve heard some bizarre defences of incompetence in my time but really ...
Also, it doesn't need a guy to be better at running a country to spot that propagating obvious misinformation is, you know, a bad thing. It may be Trump's "thing" to somehow talk utter nonsense while still seeming charismatic, but a major health crisis is a bad time for that sort of thing, no?

//He said something objectively stupid.//

But it's true, jim. Bacteria are becoming resistant to antibiotics. (which is what he said)
Thought you'd know that with both hands in your pockets.
