//...is there any evidence we are wrong?//

Well, Peter, that depends. I'm neither ignorant nor a racist. I voted to Leave. So with respect to me at least (and I doubt I'm alone) you are indeed wrong - very wrong.

//The negatives of leaving will fester on and on...//

That, of course, remains to be seen.

//...until we get a government which sees sense and begs to rejoin the EU.//

There is no way any political party in the UK which stands on a manifesto of applying (let alone "begging") to rejoin the EU will be elected to office. In the last election the so-called Liberal Democrats stood on a platform of cancelling Brexit unilaterally and immediately. The SNP said it would push for a second referendum with "remain" as an option. Both gave those voters wishing to remain a clear choice to see a Parliament which reflected their wishes. They polled 15.5% of the votes and gained 9% of the seats between them.

The EU will have disappeared up the backside of one of its own obnoxious Directives long before the UK begs to rejoin.
There will be more countries in the EU and fewer countries in the UK in 50 years time.
That would be my prediction.
Lovely to have the Brexit ding dongs back here, even if Biggus Bennus will be silent
// the bus had no lies on it.//

except one - didnt Lord Nige say - O we shouldnt have said that.

( "350m a year on the NHS" in case an Aber slept froo it all)
once the twist and shouts realise they'll be supporting more basket cases they'll bail too, then it's game over.
well 2pee to anyone with English as a first language it was a statement followed by a proposition.
just us going will increase the dues on those remaining, that will test their "faith" in the EUSSR!
If there are more net taker countries in the EU in 50 years time, ignoring the fact that everyone rational will be dumbfounded, countries like Germany will wonder why they ever agreed to be the world's funder of welfare. Still, it'll keep 'em busy I suppose.
It was a suggestion of an option PP. No one claimed it was a sure thing, or even likely. But that has been pointed out unto death already.
