Personally as long as we come out of EU i don't care if it rings or not.
It would certainly mark the event. It is the most famous bell in the world, so I don't see why not!
Question Author
fine, but who should pay...
emmie I voted NO in 1973, I could see what was coming. I was surprised so many others couldn't!
Couldn't they just smack the bell with a big hammer?
Some strong man could do it for far less.
Question Author
agreed, but this cost for Big Ben to ring will likely cost half a million pounds.
It wouldn't do a lot for his hearing!
Question Author
Theland,. that would send the bloke plummeting to earth with the noise...
Indeed emmie, but if it's what the gnomes of Westminster want, that's what will happen, no matter what we say!
Question Author
I think the idea is it will be paid by the taxpayer, which doesn't seem fair. Is it value for money..
I live too far away to hear it.
Couldn't they play a record?
Bonking Bonging Boris, should shake his Magic Money tree if he wants to go Bonging .
It should ring half-muffled as in mourning.
Question Author
no it shouldn't.. its a time to get on with things, those of us who voted leave, and it was the majority, want to see this matter resolved.
There is absolutely nothing to celebrate and everything to mourn.
Question Author
yes there is, throwing the yoke off our shoulders and becoming our own people once again.
Don't the Remainers like democracy, or do they prefer being ruled by a clique of appointees?
Question Author
exactly Theland, Democracy rules..
07.31 Diddlydo , Spot on!,
The Tories only got 43.6% of the vote in the last election and yet they wield all the power. Call that "democracy"????
