from TGM himself......
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/food-and-drink/drinks/the-day-i-tried-to-match-churchill-drink-for-drink/
"A bottle, however, was for Churchill nearly always a pint-sized one, a fairly common measure until it was phased out by champagne houses in the 1970s. He would often drink it out of a silver tankard, still served this way in some gentlemen’s clubs."
No No No. So uncouth. My father worked in the British Steel Company and they made stainless steel goblets, glasses and flutes for their workers. My old dad was giving them to all the family members saying they kept drinks cool. Bloody foul.
When my dear FIL, Doc Jones, died I inherited his lifetime Crystal collection. Wife and Bros wanted to chuck it in the skip. I insisted I looked after it. The lousy lucre was no concern of mine and I didn't want it. I couldn't watch that lovely Waterford end up in a skip. I notice when wifes mate's rock up the Crystal glasses come out.
Mmmmm. My respect and admiration for the great man increases. I never knew about the silver tankard.I only possess a pewter one with a naked lady as the handle.

I've always loved champagne and about 30 years ago my mate who was knowledgable about these things told me the silver tankard Churchill thing so I got one shortly after, I also have a silver goblet for Mrs TTT (1977 silver jubilee numbered classic) anyway that's how we drink it now, both vessels together take a bottle! What better time to exhaust my stock that celebrating Tories wiping the floor with labour, cheers Jezza!
This is one of his alleged quotes.

"As the story goes, she made the remark, “You, Mr Churchill, are drunk.”

Churchill’s alleged response?

“My dear, you are ugly, and what’s more, you are disgustingly ugly. But tomorrow I shall be sober and you will still be disgustingly ugly.”
Think it was to Lady Astor.
I neck my beer out of the can :-)
Do we have someone else trying to emulate Churchill?
Question Author
not a bad one to emulate tills!
there are a number of them with Churchill and Lady Astor, disgustingly wasn't used. Winston wasn't that crass.

A famous one, "Mr. Churchill, if I was your wife, I'd put cyanide in your tea."

"If I was your husband, I would drink it."
There are few thing in life I'm sure about but one of the is that TTT, while he remains 'active' and the Tories in power, will never run out of poo.

The posts with the most. :-P
sure you will find some more along the way
