I'm not sure how the current Labour party can continue in its present form. After 18 years of Tory rule, it took Tony Blair to bring them back to a party which the people could get behind. There's no-one in their current membership with a tenth of his charisma and vote appeal.
TBF the ship is already on the bottom!
This man and his ex-boss are toxic and unelectable. Any one else and I would say wise move. Perhaps the next time this pair of clowns visit their dentists they could request some Wisdom teeth implants. Before they sink back to the back benches they might club together and buy their Shadow Home Secretary a pair of shoes.
Was John not part of reason they did so bad ?
This paves the way for Abacus to be the new shadow chancellor. What a hoot.
I'm looking forward to the Abacalammy show!

Good grief no. For all their bluff and bluster it is everything and everyone else's fault for their demise. They blame the media, Brexit etc. Any one but themselves.
I wonder if,next year, we can be reminded of the two dodgy dossiers that the lying trot was waving in the air at each interview. Lest we may forget what Corbyn does.
The only person in the current PLP with the slightest chance of turning it round is Keir Stammer, IMO. However, his first name notwithstanding, he was (and one assumes) a passionate remainer so he'll need to put that behind him, and he's a Sir.
Pity he's still there at all. A dangerous man.
Am I the only one who thinks he's been sat down and told a few home truths? There must be a couple of straight talkers in Labour who could take advantage of the situation and give him a right good kicking, metaphorically speaking of course.

We'll have to wait for the sexy Miliband brother to answer the call and save us from ourselves. :-)
David Miliband had already tweeted some sour grapes.... like the rest of the party.. booo
I can't believe Lady Nugee may be in the running for leader! Jess Phillips seems to be the only one with a modicum of sense and the more moderate views now needed. But how to root out the hard left?
you can't root out the hard left, they are firmly entrenched. I keep hearing about Jess Phillips, she is supposed to be an outsider for the race for the leadership.
BTW McD isn't actually leaving the ship - he'll still be skulking around in the background. Maybe retire in 2024?

Any news about Seumas Milne's future plans?
