June the 7th, that's my birthday.

Wow, what a Birthday present, thank you Mrs May.
> Let’s hope there is not a General Election anytime soon.

It's likely there will be. Let's say for example that Boris or another Brexiter gets in as seems most likely.

They go to Europe to play hard ball and get a better deal.

They get nowhere.

They come back saying sorry, we're on for No Deal.

Parliament calls a no confidence vote in the Government and wins it.

We're then on for a General Election.

And those that can be bothered to vote by that point, i.e. those not on the point of anarchy/apathy, vote for whichever disgusting lot of self-interested, navel-gazing, incompetent loons they deem least worst.
Well it does make sense. It’s not as if we have to hold the election on a Sunday. Which no doubt would get some of us cross :-)
Yes I think a general election is very likely.
In fact, if I was Corbyn (which I'm very far from), I would go for the no confidence vote ASAP ... against a leaderless Tory party. It's an open goal. Can he get the shot away and will it be on target?
How about this scenario : Boris Johnson or whoever refuses to ask Brussels for an extension beyond Oct 31 and calls an election for Oct 30 :-)
More popcorn!
It would be a first ellipsis :-)

And with The Brexit Party at the height of its powers possibly too, splitting the right wing vote in particular.
The danger is, would Labour want to inherit Brexit?
Or would the new parliament simply dump the whole thing?
Lets hope we do not follow Ukraine, they elected a Comedian as PM
If Boris gets in we will have elected a Clown.
Can someone tell me in simple terms and without malice aforethought - why isn't Jacob Rees-Mogg not in the running, was that his choice?
//Lets hope we do not follow Ukraine, they elected a Comedian as PM

not "us", Gulliver - we don't get a say in this at all. it's a matter for the party to decide.
Prudie 11.25 he is far to smart for that, he is going to use Boris , as his puppet or muppet, take your pick.
Prudie; he ruled himself out some time ago saying he's more likely to become pope than PM. And, @ 100/1, i have to agree with him.
11.26 Mushroom, thought the Cons said they were changing the rules this time ?.
Ok thanks, so it was his choice. Shame really
//11.26 Mushroom, thought the Cons said they were changing the rules this time ?. //

the electorate don't get to choose the party leader.
Ukraine elected a comedian? Here’s a novel thought maybe Britain could elect an honest/ qualified politician . It’s a big ask ?!!!
You got it wrong for once gulliver: Zelensky is president not PM. The jury is still out on him: he may be a “comedian” by profession but he’s not exactly Beppe Grillo
Yes I know that she hasn't been a very good PM, but I don't think she deserves to be behind bars. :0)
