As long as AB has members over the age of 60 years old and have been brought up to a life of male and female, anything else being either illegal or "queere", then there will be contentious posts on the subject and this is natural and to be expected.
Whe all these members of AB are dead and gone and the arrival of a generation brought up on variations of sex and gender, then confusion and antagonism will persist.
it is natural and normal for these issues to be contentious.

Sorry to backtrack but regarding stating our gender when joining AB, I think that option should not be removed. The reason I say that is a few years ago on here there was someone who I suspected of being a paedophile. It turned out I was not alone and another female ABer called him out and I backed her up if I remember correctly. He left soon after. If we hadn't known the poster was male then perhaps we wouldn't have had our suspicions. And yes people can lie but I wouldn't like the gender option removed.
