Now is the time for the men in grey suits to pay a call on No. 10.
Treason is finished and should be carted off to the Tower (with Bliar?).

But who can take on the mantle?
ymb, this would never have happened under Blair. Remember how annoyed people were (iirc that includes you) at the way he always used focus groups to find out what people really wanted? And now they're mad at May for not finding out what people want.
I can't see her being carted off to the Tower just yet, YMB - for that very reason.
Bizarrely, she seems anything but finished. Everyone expects she will win the VONC later... and then just carry on. Strange times we live in.
Krom, madness reigns!
First government to be held in contempt of parliament in history. Biggest parliamentary defeat of the democratic era. Just extraordinary.
The first thing which ought to happen – but almost certainly won’t, such is the lack of any semblance of honour, principle or probity now discernible in our shameless political class – is that Theresa May should resign as Prime Minister and ‘Conservative’ Party leader, irrespective of the outcome of today’s confidence vote.
Indeed - but don’t forget to add that the turnout for the referendum was the biggest in years … and the result of that is determinedly being ignored by all sides. There’s something fundamentally sick and innately dishonest within the system now.
They should never have allowed a Remainer(May) to negotiate Brexit.
61% of the UK public think the country is in a state of crisis , ? eh.
The reason we live in “strange times” of course is because, while normally this would signal the end of the thing voted down (Brexit), on this occasion the thing voted down is a nebulous concept voted for in a referendum and no one wants to be responsible for stopping it. So we blunder on trying to reconcile the irreconcilable in the name of “democracy”
"61% of the UK public think the country is in a state of crisis , ? eh."

First world problems.. Eh ;)

We are not in a state of crisis.
European Parliament are discussing Brexit "The EU badly needs the UK"
no one wants to be responsible for stopping it

or implementing it, since it's obvious what a mess it's created; it's the last thing anyone wants on their CV.
Anyone else just wish Farage took the baton and simply charged across the finish line? Seems may has had it stuck where the sun don't shine whilst she runs around in circles.
Farage isn't in the race, and that's not a baton protruding.
Not that it matters any more but this whole omni-shambles ought to have been seriously addressed *before* the Referendum was held.
There was such a dismissive attitude by Cameron's government to the entire thing..."Oh, let them have a vote....it'll amount to nothing and then we can carry on as normal".... that it is hardly surprising we find ourselves where we are.

TM finds herself between a rock and a hard-place and I do have a degree of sympathy for her.

I would now like to see her go back to the EU and tell them that she tried it their way and the country (via Parliament) rejected it and now we'll be doing it our own way.
They'll either start to make concessions not on offer before OR dig their heels in.
I certainly believe that we are strong enough as a nation to 'go it alone' and then forge our own deals across the world.
I know but one can wish
ichkeria, //normally this would signal the end of the thing voted down (Brexit),//

That’s a perfect illustration of what I’m talking about because the negotiations for a ‘deal’ (meaning we keep a foot or more in the door of the EU) and hence yesterday’s vote should never have happened at all. Democracy should have been respected from the outset and in anything resembling an honest society it would have been. There would have been no question of the end of Brexit. Every time I hear Mrs May – or Mr Corbyn or anyone else for that matter – banging on about respecting the will of the people or letting the people down or reneging on the result of the referendum, I want to bang their heads together. Liars all. It’s apparent that dishonesty is now integral to all walks of life – and, quite shamefully, it’s not only accepted, but it’s supported and excused.
