The EUSSR gets most of its intelligence from GCHQ anyway so they'll be the ones losing out. Why does leaving the EUSSR mean we cannot share info on the bad guys??

ZM, In my experience from the sixties through to the eighties.
Danny, you’re making that up. There’s no way Police and Politics can be divorced. It’s a very largely overlapping Venn diagram.
Being a crossword guru, I’m surprised you’re not familiar that the etymology of the two words:
police (n.)
1530s, "the regulation and control of a community," at first essentially the same word as ‘policy’.
‘With’ the etymology
ZM, Believe what you will.I can never remember any chief constable going on the radio and delving into politics.
It’s not a ‘belief’, danny, It’s there for everyone to see. The government have jurisdiction over every aspect of our lives, including (very much including) policing us. The police budget comes from taxes, paid by us, which the government allocate.
ZM, You are avoiding the point that I am making i.e the police do not actively get involved in politics.
I can assure you ZM that Danny’s experience in 60–80s as a Police Sgt is absolutely correct.
It was frowned on to discuss/debate politics in a police canteen and quiet words were had by the duty officer if any one transgressed that rule.
In those days we policed and acted without fear or favour and regardless of race colour or creed or politics.
It all started imo wnen to slimeballs both named Blair where I/C HMG and the Met Police.
Commissioner Blair even lent st tone a Police Range Rover during a re election campaign.
Then they weren’t ‘above’ politics, they (you) simply carried out your duties in an environment where, to speak out, was both dangerous & pointless. Especially if you were black. Are you seriously telling me there was zero racism in the police from 1960 to 1989?
I should have added....
Where, as a potential arrestee.....
And the police certainly do get involved in politics.
Zm, why have you brought racism into this thread? Is your attempt at derailment?
I didn’t. Retro did.
ZM // And the police certainly do get involved in politics.//
Where and for how long did you serve in the police force?I presume that you did seeing that you profess to know so much about it.
Don’t be silly Danny. I can’t really believe you think politics and the police are mutually exclusive.
My final comment - the police do not actively engage in politics
You can repeat it as many times as you want. Doesn’t make it true.

Any chance of an apology for accusing me of trying to derail the thread?
Yes, as soon as you apologise for making wild statements about something you cannot prove and know nothing about.
Is it really getting involved in politics to point out the practical implications of a policy? A No Deal Brexit could -- and probably would -- make the police's job more difficult. This isn't political, merely an accurate factual assessment.

Cressida Dick head of the Metropolitan Police should not have aired her opinions on air.Her comments were definitely political and anti Brexit.
Time you really did leave the thread, danny. Your memory seems to be slightly jaundiced.
Have a read of chapter 5 (starts page 60) and tell me the police weren’t involved in politics.
