The good news; we are all going to get a blue passport.

The bad news; we are going to war over Gibraltar.

This is what happens when countries fall out with each other – they squabble like children.

kvalidir, of course I don’t ‘have’ to, which is just as well because I don’t.
I obviously don't order my priorities/importance the same way as others: Just how important is it to have a blue passport as opposed to any other colour ? I want my passport to work as a travel document without me thereby being assigned a stereotypical (and negative) connotation whenever people catch sight of it, that I am "one of those" - is the colour at all relevant unless it uniquely plonks you into a pigeon hole before the thing is even out of your hand and into someone else's for reading ?
Karl; It isn't just about the colour, it's about having a passport which is British and nothing else.
My cheap solution would be to stamp a window 4 cm x 4mm in the cover removing the words 'European Union' and obliterate the same on page 1 (which is also in Welsh and Irish). Nowhere else does it mention the EU
Just renewed mine but I'm more than happy to get anther when they become available. In fact I want one when they come out so I may have to 'loose' mine if they make you wait.
//I don’t see the relevance of referring to the Arabic name for Gibraltar. The Moors were kicked out of Spain centuries ago.//

um yeah - 1496 in fact - by los reyes catholicos - Ferdie and Isabella

un zay (the arabs) were there for 800 years give or take a lunar month

and so as cassa might say - by learning the history - we see the relevance....I would say relearning history but as usual in AB there isnt much evidence of a first contact.

oh and whilst I am at it
one of Ferdie and isabella's children really was Juana La loca
( Joanna the Mad) - sister of Catherine of Aragon

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joanna_of_Castile
I think that those of us who have dipped their toes into the waters of European mediaeval history will be quite familiar with Joanna the Mad.
Oh OK
I did History periods 5 and 6 - 1760-1914 UK only.
causes of the Great War but no battles
and we were told just about everyone else ( 1965) did

The hive did ( see above ) British Empire but perhaps not to the Hives advantage

when I was much older - The Wallace had a show of Clive's erm loot from India 1750-1800 - when Warren Hastings 1795 was accused of corruption he replied "My Lords I am amazed by my own forebearance!" There was a LOT of gold chasing of onyx which was done by 'cold annealing' on show - richly jewelled etc
and mentioned it to two other tourists who looked at me like I was a vampire bat or something come to settle at their breakfast table

and so i said - you do know the British were in India for 200 y ?
Eighteenth century history doesnt make much sense unless you do.

and he said (ter daah!) - "No, I did British History as applied to Ireland - and yes you are right it didnt make much sense ....."

and I kinda went like: you can do an O level in THAT ?

perhaps we are imprisoned and not liberated by our (past) experiences Jay Dee
