If you were an American (or perhaps you are) - who would you vote for in the forthcoming Presidential elections and why?

Cards on the table, I would be at a loss myself.

I would be loathe to vote for Hillary (even though generally her politics overlap with mine), because a) I don't trust her and b) I would be concerned about what Bill might be doing at the White House whilst his wife was out at work.

And Trump is a non-starter for me because of the whole 'baby with a nail gun' thing.

Who would get your vote?

There are loads of candidates, but only the Democrat Or Republican candidate has a chance of winning.

USA has it's 'fringe' parties as well and they all put up candidates.
( Possibly Trump may do better as a 'Monster Raving Loony' candidate !)
47-43 at the moment to Clinton.....
Here is a better list of the independent candidates for US president 2016

ED let's make this a proper poll! I'd go Trump all day long.
Trump.
Trump says things which a lot of Americans tend to agree with.My son,who is living and working in the US at the moment,is very concerned if Trump should win but says that Clinton's support from young women under 40 is very low.If Bill gets into the White House as the "first man" will he splash out on any dresses for young ladies?
But grumpy01....not all American voters are racist, misogynistic and stupid surely ?
Chelsea Clinton may well be 1st Lady....there is precedent in the States and here with female Mayors and who they nominate - one of my grandmothers was both Lady Mayor and Mayor of her town in the North-West, she nominating my eldest aunt as her Lady Mayor during office.
To err is human to forgive is divine, so she must be divine, she forgave bills indiscetion with monica, its donald for me, so i will duck

Thanks to those who have pointed out that there is more choice than the Republicans and Democrats. I had no idea.
As a one-time classical scholar, Scylla and Charybdis comes to mind.

For those who didn't study the classics, Jackdaw33 is referring to two really bad songs from the 1978 Eurovision Song Contest, and relates to having to choose between two evils.

I think...
Not exactly, sp. Brush up on your Odyssey.
I'd vote for this guy, 'a free pony for every American'

Trump, if only to keep the crook Clinton out.
Trump is America's best choice, and even ours if it would wake up our sleeping politicians.

This is what Kate Hopkins wrote back in February:

/// Whilst impractical, his suggestion for a temporary ban on Muslims into the USA still resonated with voters, resulting in a poll surge, driving his approval rating to 37% and attracting support from two thirds of Republican voters. ///

/// Here in the UK outrage over his comments was widely reported. Alarmingly, the rape and attack of white women in Cologne and other European cities on New Year's Eve was stifled by the police and
press. ///

/// Donald speaks of closing borders and building walls - a language which resonates. Meanwhile Europe talks about defending Schengen despite it's obvious failure. ///

/// Donald speaks of action to stop illegal immigration, whilst we react to more dead children in the Med with resignation. Europe is too weak to solve the problem. ///

Donald does indeed 'speak a lot' but so do a lot of politicians on both sides of the pond. I wonder what Donald would really be like sitting in the White House.

A chance worth taking? We may know the answer soon enough....
And this from way back in December:

/// Being force-fed multi-culturalism brought us to this place. When the only permitted message is acceptance, any views to the contrary result in a label to shame you into silence. ///

/// Racist! Islamophobe! Nazi! ///

/// Don't just stick a label it. Be curious. Wonder, how has Trump come to articulate the views of a majority of Republicans across the States? ///

/// Because I don't buy into the clear divide between extremist Muslims and peaceful ones. I don't see these as two separate entities. It is a sliding scale, a spectrum. From utterly peaceful, to ambivalence to sympathising, to extremist, to a man blowing up buses in Woburn Place. ///

/// It is the same slippery slope which sees regular mosque attendees from Luton slip off to Syria to join ISIS. And suddenly a tight knit Muslim community knows nothing. ///

/// Not the local imam, not local families, no one. No one denouncing terrorism. Just a wall of silence. In our country. ///

/// Hate hidden behind walls we are told to accept and tolerate because we are multi-cultural. Repeat after me. Multi-cultural. ///

I don't have a problem with Hillary; she's no more untrustworthy than the average US politician (and much less so than Trump). I don't care what Bill gets up to. He, as I recall, actually left American finances in the black, a rare feat for any politician, so if he dropped by to offer economic advice it would be worth taking.
yeah... gotta vote the way Katie Hopkins tells you to...
