The catholic church has said Mother Teresa has had a second miracle attributed to her.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-35129463

The Vatican said "The miracle involved the healing of a Brazilian man with several brain tumours in 2008"

Mother Teresa died in 1997, nine years before that.

How can this be attributed to Mother Teresa?

Is this modern day and age I am staggered that people still believe in this sort of thing.

Surely it is no better than "witchcraft".

And it staggers me that MORE people follow the catholic church rather than less, even with the churches controversial history and modern day abuse of children by priests.

I suppose it shows how many gullible people there are in the world.

bigbad; If you believe that medical science can heal wounds, it is you who need to do some explaining, not to mention thinking
The brazilion was cured of his tumours by praying to Mt Theresa and medics consider that miraculous. Who are you to doubt the patient or medics testimony.

The brazilion did not acclaim his recovery to Hitchins.
The Brazilian was cured of his tumours by praying to Mother Theresa.
So why did praying to Mother Theresa cure the Brazilian yet my mother's and aunt's prayers to her went unanswered, Tambo? Are we not supposed to be all equal in the eyes of God?
Because people are cured of illness, and injuries that may at one time have proved fatal, are now recoverable because of advancements in medical science.
When you have an injury that heals without the need for medical treatment, it doesn't make it a miracle.

You may choose to believe in this dead nun healing someone, which is of course, your choice. But the majority of comments on this thread appear to range from sceptical to taking the Mickey.
I personally, choose to live in the real world, where what can be proved can be believed.
But I want to know why this God that folk believe in picks and chooses, Bigbad.

How can people believe in his goodness yet accept the he will cure some and not others?

If he and this nasty, deceased nun can cure at all they they can surely cure all.....if not.....why not?

What did the Brazilian do to warrant this miracle? Other than be a peg to hang the second miracle on.
You have a very good point and ask a very good question there gness, particularly as prayers by members of your family went unanswered.

Perhaps Khandro or tamborine will be along shortly to answer you.
I hope so, Bigbad......an answer to ponder would be good.
I have more family members praying for my mother than you could shake a rosary at........nothing.......just wonder why....x
I think there is a theory that if you believe strongly enough that you have been cured, mind power can make it happen.
Oh I believe that, Psybs.......Mind power is....well powerful....
I witnessed the most amazing happening in a hospital.....with doctors as witnesses.......

But for all the laughter and joking......"It's a miracle!"....it was nothing to do with a god or a nun.......x
tambourine, //Who are you to doubt the patient or medics testimony. //

I would ask how they're so sure that prayer to Mother Teresa was the reason he was cured. I don't expect for a moment that any sort of acknowledgement was received.
Naomi, the OP link explains the patients experience.

Gness, whatever your early dismay has given you strength & happiness today, albeit on your own or maybe your prayers. Life can be horrific for some, who never escape their terrors.
Tambo.....that hasn't answered my questions......and I became happy and strong at fifteen when I escaped the clutches of the Catholic Church which had such an evil hold over my family....there lay the terrors.

And I am happy and strong now because of me.......I would never pray.
tamborine, // Naomi, the OP link explains the patients experience. //

It explains nothing, but it does report the patient’s supposition. You will note that his identity has not been disclosed, therefore this ‘patient’ remains anonymous. That’s handy. No awkward questions there then, so the church that had every intention of eventually endowing Mother Teresa with ‘sainthood’ is able to fulfil its ambition without opposition. There is no evidence whatsoever that this ‘patient’ even exists. Why people continue to fall for this is quite beyond me. A complete farce!
Khandro, //If you believe that medical science can heal wounds, it is you who need to do some explaining//

What are you talking about?
Two miracles are required for sainthood but Pope John Paul II got away with just one. Odd or not?
O heavens Gness not every prayer is answered ...
you knew that at age 7 and I would say even atheists are aware of it

I prayed to God and he didnt answer - we have all been there and done that and worn the vestments ....
Jackdaw33, as I said, some people have a hotline. ;o)
Khandro, medical science doesn't heal wounds, bodies do, sometimes with medical help.
I'd have thought that mother Theresa's divine intercession is highlighted by the (possibly) millions of prayers that have been callously ignored.
prayers callously ignored

well there is no evidence for that as I dont recollect that you get a prayer chitty when you finish praying. You know

saint prayed to .... St Jude
subject ( not more than five words ) lost thingey
date and time ( NB Sundays best ) 19 th Dec 15 .....
[ for office use - answered or unanswered strike out one only )
for audit purposes was saint busy when prayer arrived ?

and remember praying folks ! Santa Teresa she thay ....

zair are more problems from prayers asnwered zan there are from those that go unanswered.... and that was around 1580 !
