Thanks for the explanation jno.
She was a very likeable battleaxe. RIP.
A simple RIP from me.
I think that celebrating a death is immature and unpleasant.

I was not a fan of Lady Thatcher, but I would still offer my condolences to her friends and family - because that is the poilte response in this situation.

Hisatory will judge Mrs Thatcher for her deeds and actions, but it is far too soon to be queuing up to pour vitriol on her reputation today.
If people want to mourn this particular individual that's their prerogative, I have no issue with that but by the same token it is my prerogative not to and I am not going to pretend that I do, no matter how offended other posters wish to be.
jim, how on earth can you be rude to the dead? They can't read you or hear you. And I'd be surprised if her bereaved family are rushing to see what's been said about her on AB.

She was a public figure for much of her life, so she's open to public comment.
We shall never see her like again, more's the pity. May she rest in peace.
andy, I've poured no vitriol on anyone.
At the risk of repeating myself, no one is asking you to 'pretend' anything. Just to put your feelings to one side, possibly just for 24hrs, to show a little respect. Nothing more.
If not to the dead, then to her family and those who do mourn her passing.
I think AOG was perfectly right to start a thread here. Much more apt environment for the haters to gather.
Jim360 //Better just to remember the general rule that you should never speak ill of the dead.//
Jimmy Saville sort of takes the wind out of that particular statement.

It's just good manners - and certainly in the immediate aftermath of the news. That's all. I'm not particularly offended. I'm just disgusted.
Street cred, thistles, but you're on thewrong thread for crosswords

Surely missnemesis, there will be a better time and place,to express your
vitriolic comments rather than within a few hours of her sad demise.
Better timing would not have gone amiss.
That's fine jim, be disgusted, as is your right.
Unlike you however, I did live through the Thatcher years and stand by my previous comments.
and I repeat, Zac: none of her admirers are putting their feelings to one side, so I shall not do so either. If you want an unemotional political judgment - well, I gave one of those in my first post.
