/// AOG, yesterday you compared rape to the loss of £20. ///

If you read what the actual point was, instead of what you want it to read, I was making a comparison not between rape and the loss of a £20 note, but of providing proof of an incident.
/// To clarify - when you refer to 'these people' do you mean: ///

A) All Rapists
B) Alleged rapists
C) Indian rapists
D) Vigilante mobs

Yes one has to be so concise on this site, some are either incapable of translating certain points or are simply just pedantic in their ways.
Since the subject of the question is rape, it's obvious to me at least, that the OP is talking about rapists.

Triggerhippy, I assume you cross-posted there?

Not at all. Just clarifying. :o)

The guy has not been tried in court yet for the alleged rape. Another case of mob rule pre-judging matters. Remains me of the mob in Portsmouth who attacked a paediatric surgeon............
/some are either incapable of translating certain points or are simply just pedantic in their ways/

why should 'certain points' need 'translating' aog
is that an admission you communicate in some alien language?

Perhaps we should call your preferred form of communication 'gittish' and we'll continue to translate it into English best way we can.

Might I suggest that the best approach is to do what most people do on AB and that is communicate with as little ambiguity as possible.

Confusing a desire for accuracy, clarity and truthfulness with being

/pedantic in their ways/

is the last refuge aog of those too sloppy in their thinking or with a vested interest in twisting the truth
"gittish" - I like that :-)

/// why should 'certain points' need 'translating' aog

I was simply referring to the points made by sp1814, when he asked for certain points to be clarified, as below.

/// To clarify - when you refer to 'these people' do you mean: ///

So it was he who was asking for those points to be translated not I.

And if you are not aware what translate means:

To put in simpler terms, explain or interpret.

To express in different words.

And may I add that I do not need the likes of you to make any suggestions on what approach I should take on AB, when you yourself is in desperate need of such tuition.
There are a lor of people living in glass houses on this site.

India.
Population 1210 million
Rapes in 2010 - 22172
Rapes per 100,000 - 1.8

England and Wales
Population 56million
Rapes in 2010 - 15934
Rapes per 100,000 - 28.8

Even dumb arsed Daily Mail readers should be able to work out that we have a far more discusting record than India.

Do you think it is a cultural thing that women are in far more danger in this country?
Isn't the hypocrisy of the gullible British public boundless?

We have 16 times the number of rapes per population than India, but we readily accept it. We do not make much of a fuss like India is at the moment.

We usuall blame the woman for being out on her own, wearing provocative clothes or having drank some alcohol. The men responsible are not really beasts.

If they same thing happens in India it proves that there is something wrong with their culture and they are all barbaric.

Yet we have a terrible record for a country of our size and population and we accept it.
AOG

So can you please tell me what you interpreted 'these people' to mean?

I don't think it was a pedantic question, seeing as the point might equally be about the mob who attacked the politician or the alleged rapist himself.

Also AOG:

No - one doesn't have to be concise, but it would be useful if one could be precise. And rather than requesting a 'translation' of the question raised, I was asking for a clarification.

But let's not make this about me - what do YOU think?
