A letter in this morning's Telegraph:

'SIR – The parliamentary Conservative Party and its followers should be careful. A Conservative government has two main functions: to govern the country to the best of its ability, and to protect the country from the threat of socialism.

The noise from Labour, the Lib Dems and the SNP, coupled with hysteria from the BBC, ITV and Sky News, should awaken the Conservative Party to the perils of a witch-hunt of Boris Johnson.

Yes, his ability to control civil service “social” events in No 10 is unacceptable at best, but in 2024 he should still be a vote-winner, and I fail to see any other candidate who can protect the country from Jeremy Corbyn Mark 2.'

Obviously no
i would say yes, but feel that he may not survive the days, months coming, as there is a lot of opposition to him from his own MP's.
Problem is that there isn't an obvious front runner to replace him.
no there isn't. ^^

Perhaps it's a case of 'The devil you know....' ?
The landslide election victory a few years ago wasn’t a vote for the Conservatives - it was a vote for Boris - and those Red Wall MPs ought to be thanking him for their jobs. I agree with the author of the letter.
Not in my case, it wasn't. It was a vote against Corbyn.
This schemozzle is not only affecting Parliament, three local Tory councillors have left to become independents.
mine was a vote for the party....

Same
Bhg, do you think another leader could have achieved the same result?
The question isn't about the last election, it's about the next one. Boris is now a liability.
remarkably, the answer to Khandro's question is probably yes . . .
Naomi - I haven't a clue. I just don't feel that a proven liar is the person to run the country.
The landslide election victory was a vote for Brexit, with those 'red wall' constituencies (such as mine) wanting their referendum wishes carried out. Why do you people dress it up any other way
Ken, absolutely right - and he was the only one to promise that the result of the Brexit referendum would be honoured - and it was.
for that alone i would vote for him again and the party in the GE.
He’s still a liar though .
Let’s face it, every one lies at some point. It’s just that some are more ‘liary’ than others. That said, I hope he survives all this nonsense and drives this country forwards, rather than backwards as others would have it.
It doesn't really matter who leads the Tories, Labour won't win, end of.
