Just say'in.. TTT's avatar on my screen looks like a caveman (long dark hair and a thick bushy beard..!?), finding the depth of 'quiz knowledge' being shown here came as a surprise! - depth of knowledge vs shallow broad knowledge of many subjects.. as JimF and others have pointed out General Knowledge can apply to a vast almost unlimited sphere of knowing,...

//Then why go on a quiz show where you will face questions on general knowledge?//

That's a pretty stupid question jim. Having a reasonable general knowledge doesn't mean you should be expected to know the answer to every question on every subject.

^tomus...exactly what I was about to post...word for word!

"expected to know the answer to every question on every subject"

I didn't say that, nor did I suggest it.

Ah, of course; Seven Brides for Seven Samurai.

Why do you keep doing it TTT?

You are reminding me of abbeylee who asks similar questions every time she posts, that gets on your nerves, doesn't it?

You get on my nerves as you do with other Abers, it's like you are looking for people who answer a question wrongly because it amuses you and you share with us hoping we will find it amusing, well we don't.

It isn't a nice side to you at all, please stop doing it.

//I didn't say that, nor did I suggest it.//

You did suggest it. If you didn't mean to then whatever point you were making isn't clear.

On a general knowledge quiz show, it would be common enough to know which actor played Adam Pontipee in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, or the best-known song from it, just as it would be to know who directed The Seven Samurai, and which Western was based on it.

Barsel 19:14, none of your business love, feel free to ignore my posts but don't tell me what I can and cannot post. These are meant to be tongue in cheek, I am surprised how angry some seem to get.

Yeah, you said.

I know! I know! The Secret Seven.

Best known song from 7 Brides for 7 Brothers? No idea

Who directed The Seven Samurai, and which western was it based on?        Never heard of it.

1960 western ? I do know this, but it's just taken me half an hour to remember what it's called.

TTT I'm not angry, love it's just that you are getting very monotonous and mocking people who don't know the answers is not a nice thing to do plus, you really are getting on my nerves now, love.

Change the subject for goodness sake, you're like a cracked record.

barsel: "it's just that you are getting very monotonous and mocking people who don't know the answers is not a nice thing to do" - I'm not doing that, there are hundreds of wrong answers. I try and pick those with an amusing feature. Just meant to be a light hearted post but people like you have to get all snarky about it. Feel free to ignore my posts if you find them so annoying.

Iffy, Snow White & Co ?

/// you're like a cracked record. ///

How ironic Barsel - that's a charge TTT himself has used on others in the past.  The biter bit. 😀   😀   😀   😀   😀   😀

I'm sure some of abbeylee's posts are meant to be light-hearted but I must admit I have stopped reading them now and it looks like I will be ignoring your posts from now on.

Goodbye, my love.

Bradley Walsh: "A £2 coin issued in 2015 was criticised for a 'schoolboy error' because it showed King John holding what?"

The options were a) Sword b) Quill and c) Mobile phone, which we imagine was thrown in there as a curveball.

The answer given - the mobile phone.

Talk about communications back in 1215.....

19:35 great that's made my day love.

Just say'in.. TTT's avatar on my screen looks like a caveman (long dark hair and a thick bushy beard..!?), finding the depth of 'quiz knowledge' being shown here came as a surprise! - depth of knowledge vs shallow broad knowledge of many subjects.. as JimF and others have pointed out General Knowledge can apply to a vast almost unlimited sphere of knowing, where the future soon to arrive will take us.. AGI will know everything about everything so don't invite one to take part in your local pub quiz! ;O) But for quizzes and quizzing the term General Knowledge tends to be a limited subset of knowledge.. flags, US Presidents, Capital Cities, the periodic table, UK No.1's etc. I expect you have guessed I love quizzes.. to find TTT being entertaining in a fun way here is good I have to say.

The team name I and my friends use is Universally Challenged.. you may have seen the book (I picked up a copy in a seconhand bookshop recently) it's
'Universally Challenged: Quiz Contestants Say the Funniest Things' very amusing, worth looking out for, I recommend it.

The thing I like is when the Chasers get an answer wrong that they really should know.. I call it a QBF (Quiz Brain Fail) - the book that highlights such falings is

'Can You Beat the Beast?' by Mark Labbett.. it includes lots of questions, the answers he gave show the limits of his knowledge (at that time).. as he says learn from your failings and read up to keep up with news etc and extend your stored knowledge. Good advice from the Beast!

My two (possibly more?) failings in my post were 'seconhand' and 'falings'.. should be secondhand and failings, my apologies. I will search my quiz database and find some other QBF's and post them.
