Screech every time someone drives a car?
Even on dirt roads they screech.
I've watched lots of American shows but I still don't understand this phenomena.
Can someone please help me with this dilemma?

That's a sound answer, not the one I was hoping for,,
Is it because everyone is in such a god damn hurry?

Could be Tilly, but only if they believe in God.
Well, there is that. :-)

Does that make tyres noisy?
No! Not that! Something else.

LOL,
Anyway, it's an interesting question and maybe you'll get a proper answer.
Are you sure it's not that everyone is importantly rushing hither and thither?
Have you also noticed that American cars ALWAYS burst into flames if they have a serious crash and that the baddy in American film drives a European car.
It's the ongoing battle of the car trying to get back onto the proper side of the road.
They were also slow to drop the crossply tyre I believe.
No need for expensive radials on the agricultural machinery they call cars.
They like skid marks:-)
I believe it’s just to give an impression of faster speed than the vehicle is actually attaining. When they filmed the Blue Lamp a police Wolesley wireless car had it’s shock absorbers removed so when filmed rushing to the death of George Dixon it looked as though it was cranked over at speed when exiting the old Paddington Green nick. In reality it was doing no more than 5mph,
I watched Jon Wick last night. Soon as he jumped into his Mustang he spun his tyres and created smoke. An expensive way of getting nowhere fast and drawing attention to oneself.
It’s the kidnapped person in the boot screaming
One of my early Renault cars had Continental tyres that screeched even at walking speed when turning in multi-storey carparks.
The American cars all have "tires"...probably makes a difference, too!
With traction control it should be harder these days to spin the wheels.
I expect the film directors insist it is switched off.
I remember when western films all had wagons and coaches whose wheels turned backwards as they sped along.

Well I have noticed that bhg481, but it doesn't have to be a serious crash.
That raises another question.
Why are American cars so combustible?
Question Author
