I hope a few Abers read it
can I proof correct that to
I hope the few Abers that can read, read it

rather light weight - Times has an article on research on the sociology of the queue
why they do it and what are there for

the 24 h queue is a welding experience - and only those who do it can know what it is like ( bit like my Dad as a POW in the east used to meet up with his fellows, up to his death 25 y later)

and is an obvious object for study as the target ( 15s bowing to a coffin) is clearly NOT why they are there

R4 this am had a bit on the methodology - five line researchers who were prepared to stay up all night apparently, giving people an URL and asking them to do the quiz whilst they walked

results to be announced - BUT of course as the researchers admitted, it is not randomised, it is self selected, they did strong arm ('persuade'). they didnt do quotas ( danger of 70% being over 65 - but is that a flaw ?) - They approached every 9 people, and reacted to whether they were keen or not keen. Did everyone have a phone?

Then on R4 they had prof Peter ( "tuchma") *** - tudgeon then. His name began with 'T' . And after a few words you could work out why HE wasnt down there but was in front of computer screen blaarting like a good'un. Prof of sociology of Qs or something. 15s and you thought - " I am reminded why I didnt do sociology at uni"

PP, along with the piece linked to above, about the humour of queuing, the Guardian also published a sociological piece on the same subject

I read it. I like the suggestion to load the coffin into a vehicle and drive it along the queue - job done.
It is funny, isn’t it? What will we do on Tuesday when this is all over? It feels like there’s always been a huge queue and we all have to decide when’s the best time for us to join it. We can’t be left out.

It’s all deliciously bonkers.
