Apparently Carla Bruni is to go back on tour with songs like

'Stand by your Man'
'Enjoy the Silence'
'Le ciel dans ta cellule de prison'
'Quelq'un m'a dit'
'Miss You'
'Liberté'.

No real deterrence for these people. Just like Chirac and Giscard.
i have just seen this on the BBC news, as you say extraordinary.
This is why France is not the World's Best, World Beating, First Class, etc., etc. at anything. In France maybe but not in the UK.......
Sacre Bleu!

We like to think that corruption is extremely rare in this country. Often wonder if it's really the case or whether the powers-that-be are just better at hiding it.
Indeed paigntonian... it is shocking but at least sarkozy was prosecuted under the law and found guilty. I am not sure that would happen here, sadly.
Not even the biggest criminal action by a Frenchman in the last two days. That honneur douteux belongs to Pascal Gauzère ...
Why is it extraordinary?
ich, do you really need to ask that?
ellipsis for BA!
untitled; // it is shocking but at least sarkozy was prosecuted under the law and found guilty. I am not sure that would happen here, sadly.//

Snide innuendo based on nothing.
Nothing snide about it khandro... I'm glad Sarkozy was caught and angry that he is unlikely to be imprisoned. I wish we'd do that with our own corrupt politicians but I fear they are protected too well by chumocracy.
apparently he can serve the term at home...
god I only know - cherie je t'aime

pauvre Johnny Halliday had to go back on the stump to pay ( a very large ) tax bill in his eighties ....that was Lets Tweest again,

clearly tweesting the tax man didnt work
untitled // I wish we'd do that with our own corrupt politicians //

Either say what you are implying by naming 'corrupt' MPs or I suggest you shut up. If you are living in Britain, you have drawn one of the best hands on this earth.
who was the other one? convicted of corruption

Giscard never was -
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diamonds_Affair

his election photos, people stuck diamond stickers on his eyes
https://www.franceinter.fr/politique/les-diamants-de-bokassa-l-affaire-qui-a-empoisonne-la-campagne-presidentielle-de-valery-giscard-d-estaing

which skewered his re3 election
bbut dont worry folks - he was an haute fonctionnaire in the euro commission up to a few years ago ( imperial manner - they called him l'empereur)
Johnny Hallyday died when he was 74.
I am very happy to live in Britain Khandro and I like this country very much even if I do not like our politics... I am not going to shut up just because some spiteful old man on the answerbank tells me to!
