President Sarkozy of France is backing the Swiss ban on minarets by "advising" Muslims to be "more discreet" when living in predominantly Christian countries.

Is he right? Does he have a valid point? Or is he simply displaying homophobic tendencies towards a minority faith in his country? Why shouldn't Muslims have as much of a voice as Christians?

I thought France was a secular country?
What is the real issue here, is it that Muslims really ought to know their place?
As for the behaviour of foreign governments towards it's minorities why do they just stop trading with them until they reform?
Sadly France wasn't so squemish about allowing Muslim Algerians to fight for their freedom and then freezing their army pensions (in contravention of international law) as soon as they were freed from the yoke of French rule.

“I love it when people try to masquerade xenophobia and Islamophobia as concern for architectural integrity.”

I love it when people accuse others of xenophobia when all they're doing is trying to preserve their architectural heritage. I also love the Hypocrisy shown by adherents to the Islamic faith who see no problem in trampling over other people's opinions, traditions and beliefs. And I also love the fact that the second they see any aspect of Islam being questioned they cry 'foul'.
