Watched this last night, found it quite gripping and looking forward to the next two nights. How those cops kept their cool amazes me if it was really like that.

I've just read that the real DC Brian Lodge still has a recurring nightmare to this day. In it he is trapped in a room - "green, smoky, foggy haze. Dead bodies are hanging from the ceiling. I keep trying to leave and i can't because i'm slipping on bits of guts all over the floor. I can't get out. I can't get out and i'm stuck in that room."
And the real DI Steve McCusker says that DCI Peter Jay never lost his temper with his crew. "Peter was quiet and thoughtful, ex Fraud Squad."
Ken - // "Nilsen was a total ass in later life....." That's the trouble with serial killers. Not many redeeming features :-/ //

The exception to that rule was Ted Bundy - seriously handsome and charismatic, he had no trouble attracting the girls he murdered, and he enjoyed a massive 'fan club' during his incarceration before execution, with ladies queuing up to marry him and writing endless letters declaring undying love to him.
I don't recall the case when it emerged but remember reading a book on mass murderers and serial killers in the 90s which he featured in. Morbid curiosity.

David Tennent has done a great job portraying him and he comes across as hard nosed and manipulative. The nasty bullying type that always has an answer for everything.

What I don't understand is how no-one else in the vicinity could smell the rotting flesh and report it.
I believe Bundy's poor victims mistook his manipulation as charm, Andy. He honed his communicative skills in a Suicide Hotline Crisis Centre in Seattle. As for those who wrote and proposed marriage? All i can say is they must lead very, very sad lives.

it was a draymer - they did

the drain man - episode 1 - cleared the drain and Nilsen said
ooooch - looks like kentucky fried chucken....

and when they returned the morning after, the drains had been cleared ....so the police were called, and THEY waited over night and then when Nilsen returned from work ....

from 2020 - one can ask - - were we / they really THAT laid back ?

[ Beverley Allitt - and the dead little children, the paed got the blood test showing something was very WRONG Friday and filed it thinking that he wd do it on Monday - - and he lost his job!]

Ken - // I believe Bundy's poor victims mistook his manipulation as charm, Andy. //

Without a doubt - he was apparently very plausible, but a complete narcissist who lived for the attention his notoriety have him - while it lasted.

The need for some women to enjoy a 'relationship' with a man who can never be anywhere else except in prison is powerfully attractive, although it obviously lends itself to women with deep psychological issues which prevent them from forming normal relationships with accessible partners.
Just watched it. One of the best dramas I've seen for a long time. Totally convincing, not sensational, and superb casting. I was gripped from the start. Tennant was Neilson
there is a follow up prog same channel the next night
Des as he was
more disgusting and more like I remember it....

he disinterred the bodies from under the floorboards and dressed them and watched television with them....
