I was quite taken with this story. It's still nice to get something through the post and these colourful cards and greetings shared is a wonderful idea for residents...... :-)

Very heartwarming, Celtigra.....in fact I think I'll send some from around here.....we don't have to be on holiday do we......we can send a day out postcard.....x
That is lovely, it just shows how much pleasure can be shared by a simple act like that.
"Tenby"

"That's a bit closer"

"It is by crikey?"

Priceless
Lovely. I am sorry I did not hear about this whilst I was away as I would have sent them a card.
Mrs Baker is my daughter. Everyone is thrilled at how the postcard idea has taken off. It follows the theme of holidays, talking about places the residents have been in the past. It has brought the residents alive, talking about their experiences. They can't wait for the post each day. There are nine care homes altogether and cards are being sent to the others as well.

Wow! Fancy that, Roopower. Please tell her what a fantastic idea I think it is. I know from the last years with my Mum how much memories of the past can mean. Just those little triggers can light up a face with a memory.....
The holiday season will end but I see no reason why we can't send postcards from days out... just to have mail to look forward to so maybe we can keep this going.
Memories of Christmas time perhaps and before we know it the holiday season will be back..... Gx
You're so right, Gness. This doesn't need to stop. Someone sends cards from their dogs detailing their adventures, cubs have written cards from their summer camp, youngsters have made their own cards. Some of the more able residents now have penfriend too. My daughter has just been on Radio Five Live talking about it all . It has snowballed far beyond the friends and family that the staff had envisaged. Maybe people can remember a home, or neighbour who may be delighted to hear from them. It's just wonderful.

I shall find some little tales to put on postcards then, Roo......and ask friends to do the same...be great to keep this going...x
Gness, perhaps you could omit some of the more spectacular holiday disasters when writing your cards? It's supposed to cheer them up - not make them want to write comforting postcards back to you...
Question Author
No, Jno.....because I have always found the humour in my holiday disasters...I challenge you to find one where I don't...... :-)
Question Author
