This afternoon, on the way home from work, I stopped at The Range store, where the main car park was jammed solid, no spaces....so drove around the back and found an overspill car park, also owned by The Range, where there was only a couple of cars parked there...parked up in space.. not near anybody...got what I needed from the shop...returned to car park which was still empty with my car, and the other two, plus a further two, but found someone had parked their car right close next to mine!...and tight also, so I had to squeeze into the drivers seat, watching the door hitting the other car....there were over at least 60 other spaces there!!....why do people do it?....is it safety in numbers?....any ideas will be greatly appreciated. :-)

They would have to buy me a slap-up 5 course meal first, DTC :-)
or on the beach, which is empty and then some numpty comes along and sits next to you, umm
Perhaps your personality just draws them to you!
Sorry that was to Yogi!
quite right yogi and a fine bottle of vino or two......!
Sorry Em, won't do it again....
Or, if the car park is really busy, some numpty has parked over two spaces grrrr
shoota ..didnae recognise you with the balaclava !!!
So annoying isn't it yogi?! I thought it only happened to us! It seems to happen to all of us. I remember reading once, psychologists said it's 'herd behavior' :-)
Yes it's a strange phenomenon , that .

Always tends to happen, Minty.....restaurants on quiet nights..loads of empty tables etc....in they come, like a magnet, and zoooom..to the table right near ours fgs....or the best one and happens so much, it's laughable....:
On your abroad hols, (or on a UK beach, which we live on top of one here in Sussex)....You arrive at the beach.....about a mile or two long and more..find a nice secluded spot with plenty of room for the kids to play beach volleyball, football etc without bothering anyone, and is to have some privacy...then hello, watch out... here they come...you notice them marching towards you and getting noisier as they get nearer....then you hear " Where shall we settle...oooh that looks good ".... they go on to drop down ALL their abundance of assorted sh**, so near our towels they're almost touching!!....and the piggin' beach is literally empty!.....we are just gobsmacked.
We have moved many a time when this happens.....but why do people come near you at all?....it does make me a bit annoyed, have to admit.

\\Perhaps your personality just draws them to you!\\

Lol....Islay..My personality really changes when they attempt to settle near us, when I start mumbling many expletives..so they hear and perhaps fluff off....and my significant other, Mrs Bear, is laughing hysterically.

Emmie....you got it in one...I was writing about the beach shenanigans when you posted :-) x
If the car parking spaces are just wide enough for a Smart car then the bumhole taking up 2 spaces will be me.
Question Author
The spaces between the lines at The Range car park were pretty large, baza... it's just whoever parked their car next to mine had a different opinion of parking straight.
Good point, baza, about some spaces being tiny you can hardly fit....some multi storey and supermarket car parks are renound for it.

Hi Patsy, annoying is the word, my lovely.....and you're right....it does happen more than you think.
I have a friend, Yogi who does this......as close as she can to the only other other car in a car park because....she doesn't like her car to be lonely...?????
This happens to me all the time but the most annoying was in the large Co-op car park when a family parked up in a camper van next to my car and set up a picnic with children playing ball games at the back of their van and my car.....
The huffing when I asked them to move the table and kids over a little so I could get to my boot was amusing.... :-)
Oh dont start me on this rant. I am still smarting from last Weds. Parked my car on a completely empty floor in a multi store in Chelmsford. Parked front in with passenger side quite close to a post so I only run the risk of one car parking next to me and given I have given them loads of room shouldnt be a problem. I return and find some ******* has parked next to me by swinging into the space as close as they can to my drivers door and nearly across my back end. It took me ages to slide into the car. And further ages to get the damn car out of the space.

I left them a passive aggressive note explaining why they are utter ***** and why they shouldnt be allowed to drive......
