My friend had this problem, its normaly caused by a build up of washing powder and conditioner, you need to clean the drain where your machine pumps the water away it seems to form a solid smelly stuff. Hope this helps.

Hi saintsfan, I asked the same question a few weeks back see link below; smellywashingmachine

I removed the drawer, used limescale remover (bought a gel type) to clean the compartment & the hole that the powder is washed away in & did a couple of hot washes after with nothing in the machine - has worked a treat.

Hope that helps!

Every three months I use Oust in my machine, on a 60 degree wash with no washing in it..

It clears out the pipes and leaves it smelling fresh.

These days when we all use non-biological, non-bleach detergents on a relatively cool wash, all washing machine manufacturers recommend a 'service wash' once a month.

Use the cheapest biological powder you can find and do an empty wash at 90 degrees. This very hot water and bleach detergent helps keep everything clean and bacteria free.
I always leave the door slightly open when it is not in use. That seems to help.
Run a hot wash, it cleans the pipes properly. Run the hottest wash available either empty or with towels in. If you do this fairly regularly, no smells!
