My washing machine pongs! I have cleaned the door seal, I have washed the machine through twice with Oust washing machine cleaner, and with soda, and it looks perfectly clean, but I can't get rid of that fusty smell. I never leave the door shut when it is empty, so am at a loss to know how to get rid of the "pen & ink"! Any suggestions will be gratefully received!
Thanks

Has it got a filter trap? It is usually in the front, towards the bottom.

This can get full of fluff, which does smell very bad after a while, because it is constantly wet.
run it on a mega hot wash lately?..many people use lower temp washes to save energy etc. but this causes waxy build ups..just a thought
Runit on a really hot wash, as above, and use powder, no liquid. Machines fill up with gunk when you only use low temperatures. other factors are- hardish water, conditioner, and only using liquid washing products. Try using a few drops of lavender oil in the conditioner compartment.

After you have done a wash, leave the door slightly ajar, this will let air in and stop the smell
i had this problem and my plumber gave me a tip, the 'u bend' thingy under the sink, stick a bowl under it and unscrew it then give it a good clean. apologies for the discription, no idea what its called
what gets the door seal clean mine is so black
Scrub it with a product like Cif, then run a boil wash with biological powder (no washing though!)
