Hi,

Does anyone know if a TV 'blowing up' after a power surge is covered on the normal home contents insurance?

Thanks

I've just looked at my policy and it is covered for that.

If you have evidence that there was a power surge - an engineers report for example - most household policies automatically include accidental damage to tv's. If the power surge was the result of a lignting strike that will also be covered under almost all policy wordings.

You will be asked to provide evidence of the surge damage though.
