It probably depends on how much you spend on them, I have cheap ones and they do not omitt much light but they do look quite sweet.
oops sorry spellt emit wrong!!!

We received a solar light as a gift, which we later found out cost between 40-50 (which I would class as not cheap).  As an attractive garden ornament or bird toilet it's great.  As a light it's totally useless.

They wont give you enough light to see by in the dark, but if you have a step or something that you might bump into, then they act as a good marker. One thing that is not usually mentioned is that the batteries only last 2 or 3 years and then need replacing. They are ordinary rechargeable batteries but if you have 6 or so lights, then the cost adds up!
total waste of time (IMHO)
I've had mine in the rear garden for about 3yrs and I agree they are usefull as markers. Mine are dotted amoungst the shrubs and the last two I bought came with brackets for using on wall or shed etc. I think they look very nice when it starts to get dark. Homely
you wont get much light..and when the sun goes they are useless..i have some dotted around they dont shine enough to guide you round the garden in the dark..just dots in the flower beds..just think of them as ornamental lights as thats all they are..
these lights are a waste of money, about as much light as a fag end.
Bought some good ones - in North East Scotland (Please don't laugh) P*ss poor. Hardly Surprising.
