Does anyone have a solution for washing new towels to keep them from being covered with tons of fluff?

(sigh) no!
my mum swears by this and it actually works!  She puts them in a bath of luke warm water with a generous amount of salt in it, leaves them for an hour or so and then pops them in the washing machine.  Once they dry they are the softest and fluffiest towles you will ever have used.  Im telling you i was sceptical but it really works!
Oh and they dont go all bitty and get you covered!
Whenever I buy new towels, I always wash & tumble dry them before use - hence no fluff!
Don't wash them with anything else - And not too hot.

Buttons: after the salt bath do you wash normally with detergent before using?  Do they need the salt bath more than once?  I've tried washing them alone and without using fabric softener, then the dryer, but they still get the bits.  Thanks
