Iv'e found that expensive chemicals that are suppose to "repel" cats and dogs from using my garden as a toilet don't work. So without going to the extra expense of buying an air gun does anyone have any other remedies. Thanks.

Can't blame you for being wary of dogs after that Ummmm.
When I was a little kid someones dog knocked me over, pinned me to the ground and proceeded to "lick my skin off". I thought I was being eaten alive. It took me years to get over it, all it really wanted to do was be my friend.
That's right Dr Filth....But they make their point known.
Lots of low life out there who harm animals. Most recent in this area was a young "man" who kidnapped a dog, took it to the woods and tied it to a tree. He then proceeded to burn it alive. Know what I'd do to him!!

Ozzy...it bit me on the bum :-D

I was brought up with a guard dog. A dog that would take commands from children (us kids, not unknown kids)
Ummmm...the bum....I bet you don't turn you back on any dog now.
The statistic that was just quoted about cruelty to animals I find very disturbing.
Opens a whole new topic re: society.
Guess that should be left for a new thread.
Take care Ummmm.
maggiebee an old workmate sent me a link about that incident

From Jordys earlier post
//people who have a dog will tell you it's a rescue dog that has been illtreated,we are not a nation of dog lovers we are a nation of dog owners//
Our Girl, on the right in Avatar was 2+ yrs when we rescued her, she was frightened to walk on carpet, which was awkward as apart from kitchen area and bathrooms everything was fully carpeted, cure involved me sitting on floor a bit further into the room every day for a week or three, she had no-idea how to play, chase a ball etc, she had to be taught, and as for being made a fuss of, getting a cuddle etc you could see the joy in her eyes when she sussed it.

That's good, Jordy.
We also have a "rescued dog" cross Australian Red Cattle + Sharpei (Ithink thats how you spell it), Rather unusual looking creature, ugly but interesting.
If I went to move a garden hose she would whimper and cringe at first.
Suspect the previous owners used to beat her with one.
Now she is a part of the family and nothing seems to worry her.

Not weird at all Jordyboy9.
The term "decent" comes to mind.

I had a rescue dog. I wouldn't do it again though.
RAIN....RAIN...send some over here..
(I'm feeling a bit guilty as I think the original topic seems to have been strayed from).
Does this happen often?
Being a "newbie" to AB I wonder if it is acceptable.. or not.
Why not Ummmm.
Didn't it feel rewarding knowing you gave an animal a second chance at life?
Yep...I loved him but I wouldn't do it gain because it was like having a toddler. Every night he cried at my door. Every night I tried to teach him that he couldn't sleep on my head. I let his last years be happy...I slept on him instead, happy compromise....
I can understand that, after having 4 kids and many animals.
Thanks for the chat Ummmm and everyone else.
Off to bed now, early start tomorrow.
"night".
All the best.
Sleep well, Ozzy xx
