no love for Pitt the Younger?
Question Author
13:11, well he didn't consider it an affair did he? Next!
As i said, you weren't really looking for examples.
Pitt the younger was prob ably gay.

The last queen of Palmyra ( Jennifer Saunders) was his chatelaine. Apparently, you needed one then, ( greeter and kisser at the door).

Dolly Madison did for the widowed Jefferson
TTT. 13.09. We're pretty civilised here but Churchill certainly didn't deliver us from tyranny. Quite the reverse. He may have saved us from German tyranny...may. But he sent us the evil of the Black and Tans.
TTT: How did Churchill deliver us from Tyranny? I thought my dad and his fellow RAF types played a significant part in that while Winston was making his (granted) eloquent speeches.
there was talk, PP.

Tis true, indeed, we oft abuse him
Because he bends to no man;
But slander's self dares not accuse him
Of stiffness to a woman.

But history often accuses people of being gay unless a marriage certificate can be found.
Surprisingly not one Brexiteer on this board has mentioned David Cameron.

Gness, "TTT. 13.09. We're pretty civilised here but Churchill certainly didn't deliver us from tyranny. Quite the reverse. He may have saved us from German tyranny...may. But he sent us the evil of the Black and Tans. " - Perlease! You'd have preferred the Gestapo then?
Question Author
Khandro, many factors contributed but the conductor was Churchill.
Question Author
zebu: "Surprisingly not one Brexiteer on this board has mentioned David Cameron. " - why does that surprise you?
You didn't understand my post then, TTT? I'm sorry about that but it can't be any clearer.
Question Author
gness, "You didn't understand my post then, TTT? I'm sorry about that but it can't be any clearer. " - I understand fully You don't think that the Gestapo would constitute tyranny but you do consider the RIC from approx 20 years before the war to be so.
How do you keep missing German tyranny in my post, TTT?
very well covered in the 100 y extracts from The Times.
Precipitated the mutiny of the Connaught Rangers

Pitt (Pitt Minor, not Pitt the Elder)
John Major
errr...
Question Author
you said: " He may have saved us from German tyranny...may." - which means you have doubt about that. That means that you are not certain that the Gestapo would be worse than the RIC. What else does could that mean?
By 1921, Black and Tans made up almost half of the RIC in County Tipperary, for example. The Black and Tans gained a reputation for brutality and became notorious for reprisal attacks on civilians and civilian property, including extrajudicial killings, arson and looting.

sounds like a fun lot
