Dogs In Restaurants?

Do others think that all dogs (apart from guide dogs obviously) should be completely banned from restaurants? I do and would avoid any restaurant that claims to be dog-friendly as these smelly creatures have no place near food.

Our pub allows dog. I've never witnessed one misbehave.

I wouldn't let them in the kitchen though.

I don't think the ban on dogs generally is purely hygiene based but I take your point even though I can't agree with it.

There should be places we can all choose to be out and about with our families and sometimes that will include our dogs.

Agree Dunitall, nowt worse than sea water & sand for a dogs coat or stomach and vomit from swallowing same. All to pollute beaches that children use.

Cared for dogs are not dirty.

I wouldn't allow dogs in my premises as there are quite a lot of people scared of them. Nothing to do with hygiene.

Cat cafes seem to be doing well.

My dog NEVER vomitted on the beach and it was a section that dogs were allowed on - why shouldn't they have fun ???

I think the restaurant should have a choice as to what it offers as long as it abides by hygiene rules. And why stop at dogs ? Personally I'd avoid bring-your-pet restaurants. But each to their own.

Some posts here give interesting insight into folk's viewpoints. On many occasions one has two moral (or otherwise) requirements that clash and one has to consider the specific situation in order to decide which should be given priority. Therefore it is common to have a rule that allows exceptions without deciding because there are exception one must abandon the rule.

I completely get where TTT is coming from. Diddlydo doesn't want dogs in restaurants because they "smelly creatures", but is happy for guide dogs. That makes no sense at all.

You either ban dogs or you don't...........you can't just allow the "well behaved " dogs in..............who is to judge and then might it be too late ;-)?

I got bit by a dog when in the pub a few weeks ago it didn’t overly bother me
If I was in a food place and got bit by a dog I’d probably of booted it and then booted it owner

don't think dogs should be allowed into restaurants and kids under 14 or so only before 7pm...
